Charge control of nickel-cadmium batteries by coulometer and third electrode method [PDF]

open access: yes, 1968
Combined coulometer/third electrode control circuit for a nickel-cadmium battery included at least one cell of the third electrode type is illustrated. The coulometer/third electrode sensing circuit controls the series regulator as necessary to maintain ...

Hydrogel‐Based Capacitive Sensor Model for Ammonium Monitoring in Aquaculture

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Traditional techniques for monitoring aquaculture water quality, particularly ammonium levels, harm fish. This work presents a novel capacitive sensor with an ionic hydrogel transducer to monitor ammonium concentration in real time based on the ammonium‐induced hydrogel dissociation and osmotic pressure. Monitoring aquaculture water quality, especially

Geometry-based finite-element modeling of the electrical contact between a cultured neuron and a microelectrode [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
The electrical contact between a substrate embedded microelectrode and a cultured neuron depends on the geometry of the neuron-electrode interface. Interpretation and improvement of these contacts requires proper modeling of all coupling mechanisms.

Development of Ternary Magnesium Alloys for Laser Powder Bed Fusion: Optimizing Oxide Layer Thickness

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Additive manufacturing of magnesium alloys by laser is difficult because the melting point of the oxide layer is much higher than the evaporation temperature of the metal underneath. Making the oxide layer thinner can solve this problem. Alloying magnesium with strontium makes the oxide layer thinner, especially at 0.5 wt%.

The effect of changing electrode metal on solution-processed flexible titanium dioxide memristors [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2011
Flexible solution processed memristors show different behaviour dependent on the choice of electrode material. Use of gold for both electrodes leads to switchable WORM (Write Once Read Many times) resistive devices. Use of aluminium for both electrodes increases the richness of behaviour allowing both curved and triangular memristive switching ...

Insulated ECG electrodes [PDF]

open access: yes, 1973
Insulated, capacitively coupled electrode does not require electrolyte paste for attachment. Other features of electrode include wide range of nontoxic material that may be employed for dielectric because of sputtering technique used.

Dust particle charge in plasma with ion flow and electron depletion

open access: yes, 2011
The charge of micrometer-sized dust particles suspended in plasma above the powered electrode of radio-frequency (RF) discharges is studied. Using a self-consistent fluid model, the plasma profiles above the electrode are calculated and the electron ...

Maillard Type Reaction for Electroless Copper Plating onto Ceramic Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents the manufacturing of copper‐plated ceramic nanoparticles in an environmentally friendly way. Supported by organic functionalizations with pectin an electroless plating step can be performed. Sustainable reagents like xylose, and several amino acids are used for the reduction process.

A review for aqueous electrochemical supercapacitors

open access: yesFrontiers in Energy Research, 2015
Electrochemical capacitor is the most promising energy storage device that can meet the demands of high power supply and long cycle life, however low energy density and high fabrication cost limit its further development.
