Understanding anodic wear at boron doped diamond film electrodes

Electrochimica Acta, 2013
Abstract This research investigated the mechanisms associated with anodic wear of boron-doped diamond (BDD) film electrodes. Cyclic voltammetry (CV), x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) were used to measure changes in electrode response and surface chemistry as a

Assessment of Electrode Wear Measurement in Micro EDM Milling

Proceedings of the 7th International Conference on Multi-Material Micro Manufacture, 2010
In micro electrical discharge milling (micro EDM milling), the tool electrode kinematics is the same as in conventional milling, but the material removal is obtained by the heat and electrical forces in the gap between the tool electrode and the workpiece.

Electrode wear detection system for a boosted furnace with bottom electrodes

Conference Record of the 1988 IEEE Industry Applications Society Annual Meeting, 2003
Modeling and furnace experimentation conducted for the development of an electrode wear detection system for a glass melter are presented. Electrical measurements are used to determine in-glass electrode wear. Errors due to thermal imbalance in the melter are simulated in modeling.

Experimental Investigation of Copper-Tungsten Electrode Wear in EDM

Advanced Materials Research, 2014
Copper-tungsten alloy which is widely used in the field of EDM has high melting temperature and excellent electrical and thermal conductivity. Copper tungsten electrodes for electrical discharge dressing of metal-bond wheel were studied, and experiments were conducted to observe their wear performance in this paper.

Electrode Wear Compensation for Micro-EDM Deep Hole Drilling

Key Engineering Materials, 2010
Lateral and edge wear of electrodes in micro-EDM affects workpiece shape accuracy. A method that change materials property of lateral side of electrode was put forward, based on discharge performance difference of different materials, and it was demonstrated with experiments.

Characterization and wear behavior of pulsed electrode surfacing coatings

Wear, 2001
Abstract Pulsed electrode surfacing (PES), which is a micro-welding process, was adopted for depositing a sintered electrode of a mixture of TiC+2%B+2% Fe, on an AISI 8030 steel substrate. Different circuits were used and the deposition was carried out during 50 μs, with pulses having a current amplitude of 50 A and different frequencies of 50, 75 ...

Electrode Wear Estimation and Compensation for EDM Drilling

2013
Electric discharge machining (EDM) is commonly used to machine precise and tiny parts when conventional cutting methods face difficulty in meeting productivity and tolerance requirements. Die-sinking EDM works well to machine micro-parts and perpendicular walls of die and molds, whereas EDM drilling is excellent for machining deep and narrow holes ...

Investigations on reduction of tool electrode wear in micro-EDM using novel electrode materials

CIRP Journal of Manufacturing Science and Technology, 2008
Abstract In micro-electrical discharge machining discharge energies of less than We = 100 μJ per single discharge are used. Due to the short pulse durations in micro-EDM the tool electrode is usually charged as cathode to reduce tool electrode wear.

Effect of Electrode Route Motion on Electrode Wear in EDM Machining of Mold Steel

Arabian Journal for Science and Engineering, 2013
In the electrical discharge machining (EDM) of deep holes, electrode wear may cause the dimensions of the finished holes to deviate from their design values. In practice, the extent of the electrode wear and the surface roughness of the machined holes depend not only on the EDM machining parameters (e.g., the pulse duration, the pulse current, and so ...

Electrocardiogram Measurement during Sleep with Wearing Clothes Using Capacitively-Coupled Electrodes

2007 29th Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, 2007
The electrocardiogram (ECG) was measured by non-contact, non-restraint and unconscious method using capacitively-coupled electrodes made of electro-conductive cloth while subjects lay on bed wearing their clothes. These electrodes are very sensitive so measure not only signals but noise.
