Additive manufacturing of magnesium alloys by laser is difficult because the melting point of the oxide layer is much higher than the evaporation temperature of the metal underneath. Making the oxide layer thinner can solve this problem. Alloying magnesium with strontium makes the oxide layer thinner, especially at 0.5 wt%.

Renoprotective impact of angiotensin 1-7: Is it certain? [PDF]
The two important arms of renin angiotensin system (RAS) are angiotensin II (Ang II) and angiotensin1-7 (Ang1-7). Both of these peptides are present in the kidney, while the renal hemodynamic responses to these peptides act differently in kidney ...

Theory of Transport in Highly Concentrated Electrolytes [PDF]
Ionic liquids are promising candidates for novel electrolytes as they possess large electrochemical and thermodynamic stability and offer a high degree of tunability. As purely-ionic electrolyte without neutral solvent they exhibit characteristic structures near electrified interfaces and in the bulk, both being described theoretically via separate ...

This article examines the effect of postprocessing heat treatment on 316L stainless steel (SS316L) produced via laser powder bed fusion (LPBF). Heat treatment slightly affects property anisotropy, reduces strength, and enhances elongation. However, it increases corrosion susceptibility due to nanoscale precipitations, though overall corrosion ...

Additive manufacturing is a promising route for the production of Ni‐base superalloys for turbine applications, such as Inconel 718. Nonetheless, it induces various changes in the microstructure and performance of these materials. One such change is the incidence of the δ‐Ni3Nb phase, whose impact on microstructure, aging precipitate fractions, and ...

Autonomous discovery of battery electrolytes with robotic experimentation and machine-learning [PDF]
Innovations in batteries take years to formulate and commercialize, requiring extensive experimentation during the design and optimization phases. We approached the design and selection of a battery electrolyte through a black-box optimization algorithm directly integrated into a robotic test-stand.
