Microstructure and Microhardness Changes of 40Cr Steel after Treatment in the Electrolytic Plasma

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2013
In this work the microstructure and microhardness distribution of modified layers 40Cr (AISI 5140) alloy steel after nitriding by electrolytic plasma have been under research. It is shown that as a result of electrolytic plasma nitriding it becomes possible to increase the surface microhardness of the steel.

Examination of Phase Composition and Mechanical Properties of Drilling Tool Material after Electrolytic Plasma Treatment

Materials Testing, 2014
AbstractThe influence of different modes and types of electrolytic plasma treatment has been studied regarding the morphology of the structure, the phase composition and the mechanical properties of the surface of 18CrNi3Mo low-carbon steel. It is shown that the result of electrolytic-plasma treatment (EPT) is the formation of a modified layer on the ...

Electrolytic plasma processing (EPT) is a method of surface treatment of materials based on the use of plasma and an electrolytic solution. This abstract discusses the principle of action, main applications and potential benefits of EPТ. The EPТ technique involves immersing the object being treated in an electrolytic solution, after which an electric ...

Corrosion Behavior of SS 304 with Ball Milling and Electrolytic Plasma Treatment in NaCl Solution

Electrolytic plasma process (EPP) was used as a fast annealing treatment on ball milled surfaces. With localized melting of EPP, the surface morphology and the chemical composition can be drastically changed. Annealed, ball milled and EPP treated stainless steel 304 samples were examined and EPP treatment has been shown to improve the overall corrosion
