AbstractThe effective refractive index (neff) of suspensions of subwavelength particles is calculated in resonant domains of the thermal infrared region. On account of strong cooperative effects, notable deviations arise from what is expected for small particles; these features include unusual activation of higher‐order multipoles despite the fact that

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to present the plan to develop the known algorithm for thermal and electromagnetic coupled problem calculation. This is used for three‐phase induction motor (IM) on nominal load. An additional purpose is verification empiric expressions of the heat transfer and equivalent thermal conductivity coefficients for ...

A consistent iterative method for the simultaneous discretization of Maxwell's equations and of the heat conduction equation in weakly coupled systems is presented. The algorithm is an implementation of the finite integration method combined with both explicit and implicit FDTD schemes for the transient analysis.

AbstractA novel system of an inductively coupled thermal plasma with a fundamental frequency of 450 kHz has been developed. This system has a capability of modulating the amplitude of the coil current periodically with a cycle on the order of 10 ms, including an inverter power supply rated with a power of 50 kW, an induction plasma torch with a 10‐turn

A moving armature railgun code (called HERB) has been developed for coupled electromagnetic, thermal and structural fields using the general purpose code ANSYS as the underlying computational engine. This analysis uses shifted electromagnetic fields to simulate the velocity effects associated with such motion (akin to EMAP3D [1]).

The main goal is to present results of numerical simulations of induction heating process in pieces of cylindrical shape, using an inductor with variable step between the coils. Inducting heating process modelling was made with the Flux2D software and for study we present the temperature charts of the billet at different time steps.
