Sensorless position control of electromagnetic linear actuator

Proceedings of the 21st IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Technology Conference (IEEE Cat. No.04CH37510), 2004
Sensorless principles utilize the transducer characteristics of actuators during excitation. As the measured data are extracted directly from the actuator, an additional sensor is not required. The information on the armature position of a solenoid can be found in its impedance.

The PemRam - an electromagnetic linear actuator

IEE Colloquium on Actuator Technology: Current Practice and New Developments, 1996
The PemRam was originally designed to replace hydraulics in vehicle simulators. Previously, only high-pressure fluid actuators could provide the bandwidth and precision that was needed for accurate motion simulation but they could not be used in confined spaces close to the general public.

Robust Design of Quadratic Electromagnetic Linear Actuator

Advanced Materials Research, 2012
This paper describes the robust design of the Quadratic linear actuator. The linear actuator is higher efficiency than the existing rotary or reciprocating actuator. The linear actuator, however, has the inherent drawback of air gap variation because its linear motion is usually guided by springs and its dynamic performance is difficult to maintain ...

Fabrication and characterization of micro electromagnetic linear actuators

Journal of Micromechanics and Microengineering, 2020
Abstract This paper on the reports design, fabrication and position monitoring of a micro electromagnetic linear actuator. The actuator consists of stator, slider, guide, sensors and affiliated jigs. Actuation is achieved through ampere force between two phase micro-coils (copper) on the stator and permanent magnets (thick NdFeB film) on

A New Electromagnetic Linear Actuator for Quick Latching

2006 12th Biennial IEEE Conference on Electromagnetic Field Computation, 2006
The traditional engine valve train in a combustion engine is the mechanically driven camshaft system that provides one-fixed valve timing. The variable valve timing (VVT), however, is highly required to achieve the significant improvement in fuel economy and lower emission.

Geometry of efficient Electromagnetic Linear actuators for flapping wing MAVs

Engineering Research Express, 2020
Abstract A constraining factor in the development of flapping wing micro air vehicles (MAVs) is the power density and efficiency of actuators. Piezoelectric and rotary electromagnetic actuators have been shown to have functional power densities but can require mechanically complex transmissions to create flapping motion.

Electromagnetic Modeling of a Novel Linear Oscillating Actuator

IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 2008
Single-phase linear oscillating actuators (LOAs) produce short-stroke reciprocating motion, and, thus, have many applications. Feasible pole/tooth number combinations for single-phase tubular moving-magnet LOAs are identified and results from a study on a 2-pole LOA equipped with an E-cored stator, and quasi-Halbach magnetized and radially magnetized ...
