An Enhanced Avdonin‐Based Approach With Probabilistic Coefficients for Incipient Fault Modeling in Underground Power Cables

open access: yesInternational Transactions on Electrical Energy Systems, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
One well‐known fault that arises from water intrusion and power cable insulation failure is the incipient fault (IF) in underground power cables (UPCs). Therefore, it is necessary to provide appropriate models for modeling this fault and also to generate data close to the actual value for validating IF detection methods. This study presents a model for

Recent Advances in Design of Fault Current Limiters for Modern Power Grid Networks: A Critical Review

open access: yesJournal of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
Fault current limiters (FCLs) are essential components in modern power systems for critical protection against the damaging effects of fault currents. With extensive short circuits, routine electrical faults, and an increasing risk of failure due to unprecedented events, the development of different types of FCL has gained attention.

Study on transient electric shock characteristics between human body and metal clothes hanger on residential platform near UHV AC transmission lines

open access: yesIET Generation, Transmission &Distribution, Volume 18, Issue 22, Page 3646-3656, November 2024.
A full‐size steel‐framed residential test platform was constructed near a 1000‐kV ultra‐high‐voltage AC transmission line, then the performances of transient electric shocks when human bodies contacting a metal clothes hanger were investigated. The transient shock current characteristics and correlation between transient shock energy and human ...

An artificial intelligence‐based non‐intrusive load monitoring of energy consumption in an electrical energy system using a modified K‐Nearest Neighbour algorithm

open access: yesIET Smart Cities, Volume 6, Issue 3, Page 132-155, September 2024.
Non‐intrusive load monitoring, prediction and forecasting. Abstract Energy profligacy and appliance degradation are the apex reasons accounting for the continuous rise in power wastage and high energy bills. The decline in energy conservation and management in residences has been largely attributed to the financial implications of using intrusive ...

Reduced‐order electromagnetic transient model based on equivalent flux linkage derivative for induction motors under voltage sag condition

open access: yesIET Electric Power Applications, Volume 18, Issue 6, Page 693-703, June 2024.
An improved third‐order model that can accurately reflect the behaviour of IMs during voltage sags based on equivalent flux linkage derivative is proposed. The simulation and experimental results show that the proposed model realizes relatively high accuracy and short simulation time.

Voltage Distribution on Transformer Windings Subjected to Lightning Strike Using State-Space Method

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Transient analysis in power systems is essential for identifying deficiencies in the system, as well as for the protection and design of equipment. Transients can arise from natural events or network operations; in either case, they have the potential to

Lumped‐element equivalent circuit modelling of district heating pipe in electromagnetic transients program

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, Volume 2024, Issue 4, April 2024.
A lumped‐element circuit model of district heating (DH) pipe considering heat loss, transfer delay and enthalpy transfer is proposed. The proposed model has a high level of accuracy and is computationally more efficient than the existing distributed‐element circuit model of pipe. The lumped‐element circuit representing the DH pipe has only two nodes by
