Electron Impact Excitation and Dielectronic Recombination of Highly Charged Tungsten Ions

open access: yesAtoms, 2015
Electron impact excitation (EIE) and dielectronic recombination (DR) of tungsten ions are basic atomic processes in nuclear fusion plasmas of the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) tokamak. Detailed investigation of such processes is

Electron-impact excitation of silver

open access: yesPhysical Review A, 2015
We measure the differential cross sections (DCSs) for the electron-impact excitation of the combined (two fine-structure levels) resonant $4{d}^{10}5p\phantom{\rule{0.16em}{0ex}}^{2}P_{1/2,3/2}$ and $4{d}^{9}5{s}^{2}\phantom{\rule{0.16em}{0ex}}^{2}D_{5/2}$ states in silver from the $4{d}^{10}5s\phantom{\rule{0.16em}{0ex}}^{2}S_{1/2}$ ground state.

Malformin A1–mediated cytotoxicity in ovarian cancer cells occurs through pyroptosis and autophagy

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study investigated the effects of the natural compound Malformin A1 (MA1) on the cytoskeleton that regulates cell proliferation and migration. Disruption of the cytoskeleton can impair these processes and promote cancer cell death. MA1 disrupted cytoskeletal organization, induced DNA damage, inflammation, activated autophagy, and pyroptosis ...

Excitation Collision Strengths, Cross Sections and Rate Coefficients for OV, SiXI, FeXXIII, MoXXXIX by Electron Impact(1s22s2 -1s22s2p-1s22p2 Transitions) [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
Excitation collision strengths, cross sections and rate coefficients by electron impact are calculated for the transitions among the Is^22s^2, Is^22p^2, 1 s^22s2p levels of Be-like system of OV, SiXI, FeXXlll and MoXXXIX ions by Coulomb-Born ...

Optimizing photoexcitation conditions for time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering experiments

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering (TR‐XSS) is a powerful technique to visualize how proteins change their structure in real time after light activation. Selecting the right laser photoexcitation conditions—fluence, excitation geometry, and sample refresh rate—is critical to maximize the experimental signal while avoiding unwanted side effects ...

Structural studies and functional engineering of NanX: an anhydro‐sialic acid transporter from Escherichia coli

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Biophysical characterisation shows that NanX, a membrane transport protein from the major facilitator superfamily (MFS), forms both monomers and dimers after purification. AlphaFold modelling and substrate docking provide information on residues likely involved in substrate recognition for NanX and another MFS member, NanT.

GelMA‐based 3D spheroids recapitulate transcriptomic and functional hallmarks of myeloid sarcoma

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
GelMA 5% hydrogels support the formation of myeloid leukemia spheroids that recapitulate MS‐specific features, including G1 arrest, apoptosis, and ECM‐driven transcriptomic reprogramming. The 3D model mimicked soft‐tissue‐like stiffness and oxygen conditions, and transcriptomic convergence with primary MS samples confirmed its utility as a preclinical ...

BCG vaccination potentiates oxidative phosphorylation in neonatal myeloid‐derived suppressor cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
BCG vaccination enhances oxidative phosphorylation in neonatal MDSCs, impairing their immunosuppressive function. It upregulates electron transport chain genes and mitochondrial activity, increasing ATP and oxygen consumption. Pharmacological OXPHOS inhibition partially restores suppressive capacity, confirming causality.

Electron impact excitation of allowed and forbidden transitions between fine-structure levels in Ti III

open access: yes
Introduction: We present an extensive theoretical investigation of the electron impact excitation of doubly-ionized titanium (Ti III) to meet the needs of spectral analysis and plasma modeling. OBJECTIVES: The main objective of this work is to extend the
