Good portal films can be obtained if the film is left in position throughout the daily fraction. Such films can delineate the outlines of the treatment field as well as the internal structures, making them valuable for future reference.

Electron-electron interaction in ballistic electron beams
Physical Review B, 1995The transport of ballistic electrons emitted and detected by adjacent point contacts in a two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG) in the system GaAs/${\mathrm{Al}}_{\mathit{x}}$${\mathrm{Ga}}_{1\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}\mathit{x}}$As was measured at 1.2 K as a function of the emitter current.

Electron beam silicon purification
physica status solidi c, 2014AbstractPurification of heavily doped electronic grade silicon by evaporation of N‐type impurities with electron beam heating was investigated in process with a batch weight up to 50 kilos.Effective temperature of the melt, an indicative parameter suitable for purification process characterization was calculated and appeared to be stable for different ...

Portal localization films are taken in order to assure the accurate placement of the treatment field relative to the patient anatomy. This is routinely done for photon fields and maybe for electron fields. This paper describes a technique which uses the bremsstrahlung component of an electron beam of energy 10 MeV and greater to expose a film to image ...

Electron beam radiation is a very important treatment modality in dermatologic radiotherapy. The physical characteristics of electron radiation are well suited for treatment of superficial lesions, since the depth of penetration of the radiation can be precisely controlled, with little exposure of deeper tissues. The article summarizes the main theoretical issues at the basis of the application of EBIC (Electron Beam-induced Current) method to the study of fundamental properties of semiconductors such as minority carrier lifetime and diffusion length, dopant concentration, and nonradiative recombination efficiency of extended defects.

Electron beam dose calculations
Physics in Medicine & Biology, 1981Electron beam dose distributions in the presence of inhomogeneous tissue are calculated by an algorithm that sums the dose distribution of individual pencil beams. The off-axis dependence of the pencil beam dose distribution is described by the Fermi-Eyges theory of thick-target multiple Coulomb scattering.

Convergent-beam electron diffraction
Microscopy, 2011This paper reviews the convergent-beam electron diffraction (CBED) technique. Point- and space-group determination methods of ordinary crystals are described, along with an example of the determination method for Sr₃Ru₂O₇. The symmetry determination of one-dimensionally incommensurate crystals and quasicrystals is explained.

When a plastic ruler is placed near some very tiny pieces of paper, it will not have any effect on them. However, if the ruler is rubbed with a duster, it is found that the pieces of paper are attracted to the ruler. This difference in behaviour is explained by saying that the ruler has become electrically charged when rubbed with the duster.
