Electron beam ion source and electron beam ion trap (invited)
Review of Scientific Instruments, 2010The electron beam ion source (EBIS) and its trap variant [electron beam ion trap (EBIT)] celebrated their 40th and 20th anniversary, respectively, at the EBIS/T Symposium 2007 in Heidelberg. These technologically challenging sources of highly charged ions have seen a broad development in many countries over the last decades.

Beam Stop for Electron Accelerator Beam Characterisation
IEEE Transactions on Nuclear Science, 2008Electron linear accelerator applications involving the generation of hard X-rays frequently require accurate knowledge of the electron beam parameters. We developed a beam stop device which houses a tungsten Bremsstrahlung target and enables the electron beam current, energy and position to be monitored.

Electron beam simulation applicators
Medical Physics, 1983A system for simulating electron beam treatment portals using low‐temperature melting point alloy is described. Special frames having the same physical dimensions as the electron beam applicators used on the Varian Clinac® 20 linear accelerator were designed and constructed.

Automatic Electron Beam Diagnostics using an Electron Beam Analyzer
IETE Technical Review, 1997Electron gun is one of the most critical sub-systems of a microwave tube. The performance of electron gun has a profound effect on the overall tube characteristics. Design and fabrication of the electron gun is quite involved and complex. Advanced computer aided design and simulation techniques have been developed for gun design.

Characterization of electron beams for modulated electron beam radiotherapy
Proceedings of the 22nd Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (Cat. No.00CH37143), 2002A set of clinical electron beams have been characterized in anticipation of their use in modulated electron radiotherapy (MERT). Using the EGS4/BEAM and DOSXYZ simulation codes, a Monte Carlo model of a Varian Clinac 2100C was generated for electron beams of nominal energies of 6, 9, 12, 16, and 20 MeV. Dose calculations using the Monte Carlo generated

Convergent Beam Electron Diffraction
1979Convergent beam electron diffraction (CBD) is a technique with a long history of gradual development which has recently become widely available through the development of commercial TEM/STEM electron microscopes. The technique was discovered by KOSSELL and MOLLENSTEDT (1939) who obtained some quite remarkably good results when one realizes that the ...
