Ro 31‐8220 suppresses bladder cancer progression via enhancing autophagy in vitro and in vivo
The pan‐protein kinase C inhibitor Ro‐31‐8220 demonstrates potent anti‐bladder cancer effects both in vitro and in vivo by suppressing migration/invasion, inducing apoptosis and crucially activating autophagy, where blocking autophagy with chloroquine reduces its cell‐killing efficacy, suggesting its promise as a novel therapeutic candidate requiring ...

Generating energetic electron generation through staged-acceleration in the two-plasmon-decay instability in inertial confinement fusion [PDF]
A new hot-electron generation mechanism in two-plasmon-decay instabilities is described based on a series of 2D, long-term ( 10 ps) particle-in-cell and fluid simulations under parameters relevant to inertial confinement fusion.

Structural and functional characterization of chitinase from carnivorous plant Drosera adelae
A class I chitinase from the carnivorous plant Drosera adelae was expressed and purified using a yeast system, revealing high enzymatic activity. Structural analyses of the catalytic and chitin‐binding domains identified key tyrosine residues involved in substrate binding, offering insights into the enzyme's adaptation for insect digestion.

Here, we introduced an intermittent electrical stimulation protocol mimicking the episodic nature of real‐life exercise in vitro by alternating low‐ and high‐frequency stimulation. In comparison with widely used continuous stimulation, it enhanced the rate of glucose and fatty acid oxidation, but not the myokine release.

Electron momentum density in yttrium
A simultaneous analysis of high-resolution directional Compton profiles and two-dimensional angular correlation of positron annihilation experimental data has been performed by studying both a directional anisotropy of measured spectra and reconstructed densities.

Magnetic-field-induced Stoner transition in a dilute quantum Hall system
In a recent paper [Phys.Rev.B.\textbf{84}, 161307 (2011)], experimental data on spin splitting in the integer quantum Hall effect has been reported in a high mobility dilute 2D electron gas with electron density as low as 0.2 $\times$ 10$^{11}$ cm $^{-2}$

Berberine–cinnamic acid co‐crystal (BBR‐CA) inhibits the phosphorylation of the phosphatidylinositol 3‐kinase (PI3K)/AKT/mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) pathway, suppressing the transfer of pre‐sterol regulatory element‐binding proteins‐1 (SREBP‐1) from the endoplasmic reticulum to the nucleus. This results in a decrease in the expression level of

Anisotropy and periodicity in the density distribution of electrons in a quantum-well
We use low temperature near-field optical spectroscopy to image the electron density distribution in the plane of a high mobility GaAs quantum well. We find that the electrons are not randomly distributed in the plane, but rather form narrow stripes ...

Epigallocatechin‐3‐gallate (EGCG) acutely inhibited gluconeogenesis and enhanced glycolysis, glycogenolysis, and fatty acid oxidation in perfused rat livers. Mechanistic assays revealed mitochondrial uncoupling, inhibition of pyruvate carboxylation and glucose‐6‐phosphatase, shift of NADH/NAD+ ratios toward oxidation, and loss of membrane integrity ...
