Linear and nonlinear resonant properties of electron gas in n-InSb and graphene layers in terahertz range in bias magnetic fields

open access: yesMaterials Research Express
The nonlinear conductivity of 2D electron gas in graphene and 3D electron gas in the narrow-gap n- InSb semiconductor has been simulated in terahertz (THz) range by various methods including the direct quantum approach, the quasi-classical kinetics, and ...

Molecular dynamics simulations of positively selected codons in FcγRI reveal novel biochemical binding properties

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...

Combined Gas Electron Diffraction and Mass Spectrometric Experimental Setup at Bielefeld University

open access: yes, 2020
We have designed and constructed a combined experimental setup for synchronous measurements of electron diffraction patterns and mass-spectra of gas samples.

Effect of gas flow rate on plasma temperature and electron density of atmospheric argon plasma jet

open access: yesIraqi Journal of Physics, 2018
In this study, method for experimentally determining the electron density (ne) and the electron temperature (Te) in the atmospheric Argon plasma jet is used; it is based on optical emission spectroscopy (OES).

Sudden anaerobization in Amphibacillus xylanus increases intracellular labile ferrous iron and inhibits cell growth

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Abruptly changing from aerobic to anaerobic conditions (sudden anaerobization) induced growth inhibition and a significant increase in intracellular labile ferrous iron in the aerotolerant anaerobe Amphibacillus xylanus. We found that free flavins mediate efficient electron transfer from NADH to ferric iron under anaerobic conditions, suggesting that ...

Power dissipation, gas temperatures and electron densities of cold atmospheric pressure helium and argon RF plasma jets [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
A set of diagnostic methods to obtain the plasma parameters including power dissipation, gas temperature and electron density is evaluated for an atmospheric pressure helium or argon radio frequency (RF) plasma needle for biomedical applications operated

Momentum Distribution of the Homogeneous Electron Gas [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2011
We calculate the off-diagonal density matrix of the homogeneous electron gas at zero temperature using unbiased Reptation Monte Carlo for various densities and extrapolate the momentum distribution, and the kinetic and potential energies to the thermodynamic limit.

Time‐restricted feeding prior to Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection reduces tissue CD4+ T cells with limited impact on bacterial clearance

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐restricted feeding (TRF) in mice increased liver fatty acid oxidation and decreased fatty acid biosynthesis. These alterations persisted when TRF was discontinued and the host was infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Pre‐exposure to TRF did not alter tissue (lung and spleen) mycobacterial burden but significantly reduced CD3+ T cells in lungs

Electron optics in ballistic graphene [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
This thesis is centered on the experimental observation of electron-optics phenomena in graphene. In Chapter 2, graphene is introduced and the ability to form p-n junctions, with particular regard to electron optics experiments, is discussed.

Coherent Electron Focussing in a Two-Dimensional Electron Gas [PDF]

open access: yesEurophysics Letters (EPL), 1988
The first experimental realization of ballistic point contacts in a two-dimensional electron gas for the study of transverse electron focussing by a magnetic field is reported. Multiple peaks associated with skipping orbits of electrons reflected specularly by the channel boundary are observed.
