Cyclic azapeptide CD36 ligand attenuates cardiac injury and reduces long‐chain fatty acid accumulation after myocardial ischemia–reperfusion in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

Comparison of Measured Residual Stress Distributions in Extra-Thick Butt Welds Joined by One-Pass EGW and Multipass FCAW

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2014
This study is to measure the welding residual stress distributions in a 70 mm-thick butt weld by one-pass electron gas welding using both the inherent strain method and neutron diffraction method, respectively.

UiO‐66 metal–organic frameworks in biomedicine: From structural tunability to bioimaging, photodiagnostics, and photodynamic cancer therapy

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
UiO‐66(Zr) metal–organic frameworks are chemically stable, biocompatible, and highly tunable nanomaterials. Their modular structure enables controlled drug delivery, multimodal bioimaging, and light‐activated photodynamic therapy, supporting integrated diagnostic and therapeutic (theranostic) applications in cancer and biomedical research.

A cold strontium Rydberg gas [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Cold gases of Rydberg atoms are an ideal system in which to study the novel effects of strong interatomic interactions. This thesis describes the design and construction of the world's first experiment to study Rydberg states in a cold gas of an alkaline

Carbon Monoxide as an Electron Donor for the Biological Reduction of Sulphate [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Several strains of Gram-negative and Gram-positive sulphate-reducing bacteria (SRB) are able to use carbon monoxide (CO) as a carbon source and electron donor for biological sulphate reduction.

Ballistic electron transport in hybrid ferromagnet/two-dimensional electron gas sandwich nanostructure: Spin polarization and magnetoresistance effect

open access: yes, 2009
We have theoretically investigated ballistic electron transport through a combination of magnetic-electric barrier based on a vertical ferromagnet/two-dimensional electron gas/ferromagnet sandwich structure, which can be experimentally realized by ...

PROTON SCATTERING ON AN ELECTRON GAS

open access: yesInternational Journal of Modern Physics A, 2013
It is shown in the case of proton scattering on an electron gas target that the Closed Time Path formalism can handle final state interactions of the target in equilibrium in a simple and natural manner. The leading-order cross-section is proportional to the photon density of states.

Mechanochemical Synthesis and Characterization of Nanostructured ErB4 and NdB4 Rare‐Earth Tetraborides

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
ErB4 and NdB4 nanostructured powders are produced by mechanochemical synthesis. 5 h mechanical alloying and 4 M HCl acid leaching are used in the production. ErB4 and NdB4 powders exhibit maximum magnetization of 0.4726 emu g−1 accompanied with an antiferromagnetic‐to‐paramagnetic phase transition at about TN = 18 K and 0.132 emu g−1 with a maximum at ...

Pseudo-proper two-dimensional electron gas formation

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics
In spite of the interest in the two-dimensional electron gases (2DEGs) experimentally found at surfaces and interfaces, important uncertainties remain about the observed insulator–metal transitions (IMTs).
