Mapping the electrostatic potential of Au nanoparticles using hybrid electron holography [PDF]
Electron holography is a powerful technique for characterizing electrostatic potentials, charge distributions, electric and magnetic fields, strain distributions and semiconductor dopant distributions with sub-nm spatial resolution.

Inhomogeneous spatial distribution of the magnetic transition in an iron-rhodium thin film
Films of iron-rhodium alloy undergo a magnetic transition at 100°C, and so are attractive for applications, but a detailed understanding of the transition mechanism has not been achieved.

Dramatic and Elusive Resonant Lattice Kerker Effect in the Nonlinear Response of Plasmonic Lattices
Plasmonic metasurface that supports the resonant lattice Kerker effect, manifesting as the suppression of reflection in a narrow spectral range due to the simultaneous excitation of electric dipole and quadrupole modes, also gives rise to a substantial near‐field enhancement.

In this strategy, a conductive nano‐probe is employed to induce nanoscale phase transitions and map the nanoscale conductivity and trap density of GST films. By utilizing the contrasting properties of phase‐change states, nano‐resonators are fabricated that exhibit plasmonic conduction and dramatically different transport characteristics.

Generating Circularly Polarized Light Using Hybrid Near‐Zero and High‐Index Materials
A flat‐optics approach to manipulating the polarization state of light is proposed using evanescent‐wave interactions in hybrid epsilon‐near‐zero and high‐index materials. The design enables linear‐to‐circular polarization conversion in a wavelength‐scale device design without depending on patterning or bulky optics and operates in both reflection and ...

Electron Holography of Nanoparticles [PDF]
This thesis treats a number of aspects of electron holography. In conventional microscopy only the intensity of the object wave is recorded during the imaging process. The phase information is lost.

With the dramatic increase in x-ray source brilliance and associated coherent photon flux, holography with x-rays has become feasible and is increasingly used for real-space investigations of static and dynamic properties of nanoscale systems.
