Structural and Transport Properties of Thick and Thin Cr2AlC Films
This study compares structural and transport properties of Cr2AlC thin films (50 and 500 nm) systematically disordered by ion irradiation. Columnar grain growth is observed only in 500 nm films, while both films exhibit a weak fiber texture. Kondo scattering from displaced Cr atoms leads to a resistivity upturn, with distinct magnetoresistance in each ...

Superfluid helium nanodroplets enable ultraclean synthesis of metallic clusters and nanowires unattainable by other methods. This review surveys aberration‐corrected scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM), electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS)/energy‐dispersive X‐ray spectroscopy (EDX), and electron tomography to resolve their structure ...

50th anniversary of the Stanford SSRL synchrotron radiation and protein crystallography initiative
We provide a historical introduction and our thoughts on the current trends including some based on papers in this special issue of Journal of Synchrotron Radiation celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Stanford SSRL synchrotron radiation and protein crystallography initiative led by Keith Hodgson. We provide a historical introduction spanning the ...

Beamstrahlung from colliding electron-positron beams with negligible disruption [PDF]
Abstract We present radiative energy loss formulas for beamstrahlung from colliding electron-positron beams which experience negligible disruption, as determined by numerical simulation. Our computer code uses the correct quantum mechanical photon number spectrum for synchrotron radiation emitted by relativistic electrons to simulate with ...

Polarization in electron positron colliding beams and the weak interactions
Abstract The differential cross sections for the processes e+e−→ μ+μ−and e + e − → hX are evaluated for arbitrary states of electron and positron polarization. The magnitudes of the weak interaction effects manifested are estimated using models and are found to be large enough to be searched for by the next generation of e+e− machines.

Renormalization Theory of Beam-Beam Interaction in Electron-Positron Colliders [PDF]
This note is devoted to explaining the essence of the renormalization theory of beam-beam interaction for carrying out analytical calculations of equilibrium particle distributions in electron-positron colliding beam storage rings. Some new numerical examples are presented such as for betatron tune dependence of the rms beam size.
