Electron work function from metals in a liquid dielectric

1. The work functions of the electron in water were determined for 17 metals, as well as those from mercury in alcohols and dimethylformamide. 2. The energies of electronic polarization of water, alcohols, and dimethylformamide were calculated.

Macroscopic theory of the electron work function in solids

The approach is based on the dielectric formalism theory. The relations for calculation of the electron work function in solids – metals, semiconductors and dielectrics, were obtained. The calculated results are in an agreement with experimental ones. This approach can be used for computation of work function values of numerous materials.
