A Skull Bone Marrow‐to‐Brain Axis Links Osteoblastic Activity to Myeloid Cell Trafficking, Cerebral Blood Flow, and Cognition in Alzheimer's Progression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals that Alzheimer's disease–linked APP expression in bone‐forming cells drives skull bone marrow remodeling and alters its vascular connections to the brain. These changes disrupt immune cell trafficking, cerebral blood flow, and cognition. Targeting bone marrow macrophages restores brain function, highlighting a previously unrecognized

Neuromorphic Near‐Sensor and In‐Sensor Computing Enabled by Next‐Generation Material‐Based Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This Review presents a structural framework that classifies neuromorphic sensing into near‐sensor and in‐sensor architectures, clarifying physical coupling between sensing and computation. The framework connects neural and synaptic device functions with recent advances in optical, mechanical, and chemical sensing, compares energy consumption and ...

HLA‐DR+ Schwann Cells Generate the Protumor Cancer‐Neuron‐Immune Niche in Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Hijacked and educated by HNSCC cells, HLA‐DR+ Schwann cells lost their normal neural‐related functions but acquired immunoregulatory phenotypes to promote CD4+ T cells transform into Tregs. HLA‐DR+ Schwann cells induced a macrophage subpopulation, Il1β.

Uncertainty‐Aware Deep Ensembles for Robust and Reliable Chemical Sensor Arrays

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A reliability‐aware electronic nose is developed using photothermally anchored metal‐catalyst decorated metal oxide nanofiber sensor arrays combined with deep ensemble learning. Diverse catalytic nanofiber channels generate gas‐specific response patterns, enabling selective identification and quantification of sulfur‐containing gases.

An Intelligent Decision Support System for bacterial clinical isolates in vitro utilising an electronic nose

open access: yes, 2009
Current clinical diagnostics are based on biochemical, immunological or microbiological methods. However, these methods are operator dependent, time consuming, expensive and require special skills, and are, therefore, not suitable for point-of-care ...

Real‐Time and Non‐Invasive Detection of Respiratory Viral Infections Using an Intelligent Odor Monitoring System (IOMS)

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An intelligent odor monitoring system integrates an IVC animal model, gas sensor array, real‐time resistance readout, and machine‐learning analysis to continuously monitor infection‐associated odor changes. The platform captures longitudinal sensor responses, distinguishes infected from healthy states, and supports early‐stage respiratory viral ...

Nano‐Backpack Engineered Probiotics with Reactive Oxygen Species–Responsive Tungsten Release for Synergistic Therapy of Inflammatory Bowel Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An integrated probiotic system is engineered to execute a programmed therapeutic cascade against inflammatory bowel disease. Upon pathological signals, the system sequentially performs ROS scavenging, tungsten release, and selective pathogen suppression, thereby breaking the oxidative stress–dysbiosis cycle to remodel gut microbiota and reinforce ...

A Novel Electronic Nose Using Biomimetic Spiking Neural Network for Mixed Gas Recognition

open access: yesChemosensors
Odors existing in natural environment are typically mixtures of a large variety of chemical compounds in specific proportions. It is a challenging task for an electronic nose to recognize the gas mixtures.

An On-Chip Multi-Class Support Vector Machine Applied to Portable Electronic Nose Data Classification

open access: yes, 2012
[[abstract]]In this paper, a multiple‐class support vector machine chip applied to a portable electronic nose system is presented. The multiple‐class method of the classifier was implemented with a “one‐versus‐one” method, and the kernel function for SVM
