Electron attachment cross sections and negative ion states of SF6

International Journal of Mass Spectrometry, 2001
Abstract A comprehensive and critical assessment of published data on the total, dissociative and nondissociative electron attachment cross sections for SF 6 allowed us to recommend or suggest room temperature values for these cross sections over an energy range from 0.0001 eV to 15 eV. The total electron attachment cross section is dominated by the

State-selective cross section scalings for electron capture collisions

Journal of Physics B: Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics, 2000
The classical-trajectory Monte Carlo method is used to calculate total and final nf state-selective electron capture cross sections for various fully stripped ions, ranging from He2+ to Ne10+, incident on H(ni = 1-4) and Li(2s and 2p) targets over the collision energies of 1-100 keV u-1.

Electron Collision Cross Sections Involving Excited States

1990
It has long been recognized that atoms and molecules in the flow field around a hypersonic space vehicle, upon its entry into the planetary atmosphere, undergo a variety of chemical reactions. These include dissociation, ionization, charge transfer, and exchange reactions, along with rotational, vibrational, and electronic excitations. At low altitudes,

The effect of cross section on the electron states in quantum wire lasers

Semiconductor Science and Technology, 1994
We consider the effects of the cross-sectional shape on the quantum confinement energies in quantum wire lasers that have been prepared by epitaxial overgrowth on V-grooved and other patterned substrates. Analytic solutions allow some key conclusions to be drawn, while numerical solutions allow a closer approximation to the actual shapes generated ...

Cross sections, polarization and orientation in electron-impact excitation to states

Journal of Physics B: Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics, 1998
This work reports results from a comprehensive experimental and theoretical study of the electron-impact excitation of some levels belonging to the configuration in neon. We performed electron-polarized photon coincidence experiments for the excitation of the and levels in neon where the polarized photon emitted in the radiative decay was detected in ...

Cross sections for electron scattering from the ground state of mercury

Journal of Physics B: Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics, 2003
We have performed close-coupling calculations of electron scattering from the ground state of mercury atoms in the 4-500 eV energy range. Total scattering cross section and differential and integrated cross sections for elastic scattering and excitations of the 6s6p 1P1, 6s6p 3P0,1,2, 6s7p 1P1, 6s7s 1S0 and 6s7s 3S1 states are presented.

Numerical Study of Electronic States in a Quantum Wire at Crossing Heterointerfaces

1991
We demonstrate that the confinement produced by the internal electric fields at crossing heterointerfaces is sufficient to produce a bound electronic state in two dimensions. The potential profiles and electronic states are obtained by numerically solving the Poisson and Schrodinger equations using the Finite Element Method.

Determination of differential cross sections for electron-impact excitation of electronic states of molecular oxygen

Physical Review A, 2000
The development and initial results of a method for the determination of differential cross sections for electron scattering by molecular oxygen are described. The method has been incorporated into an existing package of computer programs which, given spectroscopic factors, dissociation energies and an energy-loss spectrum for electron-impact ...

Electron impact cross-sections for electronic excitation of vibrationally excited O2 to B3Σu− state

Chemical Physics Letters, 2000
Abstract A complete set of total and dissociative electron impact cross-sections of vibrationally excited O 2 molecule, through the Schumann–Runge transition, have been calculated using the impact-parameter method. The results shows an intricate behaviour of cross-sections for both bound–bound, bound–continuum transitions as a function of initial ...
