Bound states of spatially separated electrons in crossed electric and magnetic fields

Low Temperature Physics, 2001
A new mechanism is proposed for the binding of two carriers of the same sign in a two-layer system in crossed electric E and magnetic B fields of a special form. A field configuration for which the electric and magnetic fields in the layers are equal in magnitude and opposite in direction is considered.

EFFECT OF A CROSSED UNIFORM ELECTROMAGNETIC FIELD ON LOOSELY LOCALIZED ELECTRON STATES

Modern Physics Letters A, 2005
An approximate analytic solution for the ground electron state is found to the Schrödinger equation for a combination of a uniform magnetic field and a single attractive -λδ(r) potential. The effect of the magnetic field on this loosely localized electron state is studied.

State selective electron capture cross sections: Protons in collisions with Sodium

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section B: Beam Interactions with Materials and Atoms, 1987
Abstract We have measured cascade-free σ (np) relative cross sections for single electron capture by protons from a sodium jet, in the energy range of 50 to 200 keV. For 50 keV H + + Na → H ∗ (3l,l = 0,1,2) + Na we have also determined relative initial state populations using tht fast beam time of flight technique.

Calculation of the Cross-Section for Optical Transitions of an Electron Bubble to D States

Journal of Low Temperature Physics, 2007
The optical transitions of an electron bubble (negative ion) in liquid helium from the ground state to the 1P and 2P states have been studied in a number of experiments. For an ideal spherical bubble electric-dipole transitions can occur only to P states. Thermal or quantum fluctuations in the bubble shape make other transitions possible. In this paper

Solid state effects on core electron cross-sections used in microanalysis

Ultramicroscopy, 1988
Abstract In quantitative electron energy loss spectroscopy, there has been some controversy as to whether fine structure due to solid state effects leads to errors in quantitative analysis. We consider the oxygen K edges in MnO and MnO 2 , which are different environments for the oxygen fine structure.

High-frequency two-electron photoionization cross section of triplet states

Physical Review A, 2003
Using high precision wave functions describing the triplet ground and excited ${}^{3}S$ states of the He atom and heliumlike ions, the cross sections of single- and double-electron photoionization are calculated. The dependence of the ratio R of the double and single ionization cross sections on the nuclear charge Z and the principal quantum number of ...
