Assessment of different shielding materials for radiation therapy of maxillofacial tumors – An in vitro study

open access: yesThe Journal of Indian Prosthodontic Society
Aim: Since the advent of radiotherapy, the success rate of head and neck cancer treatment has increased significantly. However, when the tissue tolerance level is exceeded, unnecessary and uncontrolled exposure to radiation is considered detrimental ...

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

Numerical Evaluation of a Soliton Pair with Long-Range Interaction

open access: yesUniverse
We determine the interaction energy of electric monopole pairs, sources and sinks of a Coulombic field. These charges are represented by topological solitons of finite size and mass, described by a field of SO(3) rotations without any divergences.

Intermetallic Compound Layer Morphology and Distribution in Friction‐Welded Steel–Aluminum Components

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, how friction‐welding parameters (rotational speed, etc.) affect the morphology, distribution, and local thickness of the intermetallic compound layer (IMC‐layer) in friction‐welded steel‐aluminum hybrid components is investigated. In the results, it is shown that lower speeds (700 rpm) lead to a more uniform, thinner IMC‐layer (<0.5 μm),

Non‐Destructive and Mechanical Characterization of the Bond Quality of Co‐Extruded Titanium‐Aluminum Profiles

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates the bond quality of co‐extruded aluminum–titanium hybrid profiles, focusing on the lateral angular co‐extrusion (LACE) process. It examines how heat treatments (HT) affect intermetallic phase formation, bond strength, and material properties.
