Hamiltonian of a many-electron system with single-electron and electron-pair states in a two-dimensional periodic potential [PDF]

open access: yesEur. Phys. J. B (2015) 88: 20, 2015
Based on the metastable electron-pair energy band in a two-dimensional (2D) periodic potential obtained previously by Hai and Castelano [J. Phys.: Condens. Matter 26, 115502 (2014)], we present in this work a Hamiltonian of many electrons consisting of single electrons and electron pairs in the 2D system.

What’s so Hot about Electrons in Metal Nanoparticles? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Metal nanoparticles are excellent light absorbers. The absorption processes create highly excited electron–hole pairs, and recently there has been interest in harnessing these hot charge carriers for photocatalysis and solar energy conversion ...

Electronic Markets and Electronic Hierarchies [PDF]

open access: yesCommunications of the ACM, 1987
Abstract The innovations in information technologies of the past two decades have radically reduced the time and cost of processing and communicating information. These reductions have in turn brought many changes in the ways that tasks are accomplished in firms.

Evaluation of the Electron Contamination in Photon Therapy Using BEAMnrc Code

open access: yesمجله دانشکده پزشکی اصفهان, 2019
Background: Today, high-energy photon beams are widely used in the treatment of all types of cancers. However, the production of electrons as contaminants in the photon pathway provides the necessity for research in this field.

Implications of Kappa Suprathermal Halo of the Solar Wind Electrons

open access: yesFrontiers in Astronomy and Space Sciences, 2022
The electron velocity distributions measured in-situ in space plasmas reveal two central populations, a low-energy and highly dense (quasi-)thermal core, and a more diffuse but hotter suprathermal halo. Even if the core contributes much more to the total

Statistical process control to monitor use of a web‐based autoplanning tool

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, Volume 23, Issue 12, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Purpose To investigate the use of statistical process control (SPC) for quality assurance of an integrated web‐based autoplanning tool, Radiation Planning Assistant (RPA). Methods Automatically generated plans were downloaded and imported into two treatment planning systems (TPSs), RayStation and Eclipse, in which they were recalculated using ...

Treatment planning with a 2.5 MV photon beam for radiation therapy

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, Volume 23, Issue 12, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Purpose The shallow depth of maximum dose and higher dose fall‐off gradient of a 2.5 MV beam along the central axis that is available for imaging on linear accelerators is investigated for treatment of shallow tumors and sparing the organs at risk (OARs) beyond it.

Electron-Driven Instabilities in the Solar Wind

open access: yesFrontiers in Astronomy and Space Sciences, 2022
The electrons are an essential particle species in the solar wind. They often exhibit non-equilibrium features in their velocity distribution function.

Electronic structure of MnSi: The role of electron-electron interactions

open access: yesPhysical Review B, 2006
We present an experimental study of the electronic structure of MnSi. Using x-ray absorption spectroscopy XAS, x-ray photoemission, and x-ray fluorescence, we provide experimental evidence that MnSi has a mixed valence ground state. We show that self-consistent local density approximation supercell calculations cannot replicate the XAS spectra of MnSi,

Interplay of spin-orbit coupling and Coulomb interaction in ZnO-based electron system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Spin-orbit coupling (SOC) is pivotal for various fundamental spin-dependent phenomena in solids and their technological applications. In semiconductors, these phenomena have been so far studied in relatively weak electron-electron interaction regimes, where the single electron picture holds.
