The electrophoretic membrane contactor: A mass-transfer-based methodology applied to the separation of whey proteins [PDF]
In the electrophoretic membrane contactor (EMC), a porous membrane is used to establish a contact across two flowing liquids between which an electrically driven mass transfer takes places.

This study reveals the molecular mechanism by which the transcription factor FgSge1 regulates mycotoxin biosynthesis and virulence in Fusarium graminearum. FgSge1 binds to the TAARGTTT cis‐element, enabling self‐activation. It recruits the SAGA complex, promotes histone acetylation, and facilitates jet‐like chromatin remodeling, thereby activating ...

Filter Retardation Assay for Detecting and Quantifying Polyglutamine Aggregates Using Caenorhabditis elegans Lysates [PDF]
Protein aggregation is a hallmark of several neurodegenerative diseases and is associated with impaired protein homeostasis. This imbalance is caused by the loss of the protein's native conformation, which ultimately results in its aggregation or ...

Pathological Seminal Plasma Proteins by Cellulose Acetate Electrophoresis [PDF]
Pathological seminal liquids were studied by using cellulose acetate electrophoresis as well as biochemical doses of proteins, acid phosphatases, reducing sugars, and zinc. It was also possible to show the frequent total absences of vesicular secretion, less frequent than prostatic secretion and less than the two at the same time.

ABSTRACT Background Congenital methemoglobinemia caused by hemoglobin variants is a rare hematological disorder often misdiagnosed due to overlapping features with enzymatic defects. Hb Tübingen, a β‐globin chain variant (βCD106), is characterized by increased autoxidation, heat instability, and cyanosis.

Bio‐Inspired, Zwitterionic Copolymers with Amphiphilic Character
Zwitterionic copolymers based on arginine‐derived monomers are produced by xanthate‐supported photo‐iniferter reversible‐addition‐fragmentation chain‐transfer polymerization. Experiments in relevant conditions show that the designed (co)polymers hardly interact with biologically relevant proteins and enzymes such as bovine serum albumine (BSA), fetal ...

Advancements in Mass Spectrometry‐Based Glycomics in Food and Nutritional Science
ABSTRACT This review highlights advancements in mass spectrometry (MS)‐based glycomics in food and nutritional science. Carbohydrates, which are vital for human health, exhibit complex structures, making their analysis challenging. MS has become an indispensable tool for elucidating the structures of carbohydrates, including glycans, through soft ...
