Resolving acetylated and phosphorylated proteins by neutral urea Triton-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis: NUT-PAGE

open access: yesBioTechniques, 2014
Protein acetylation and phosphorylation are key modifications that regulate both normal and pathological protein functions. The gel systems currently used for analyzing modified proteins require either expensive reagents or time-consuming second ...

Phospholipid hydroperoxide glutathione peroxidase is the 18-kDa selenoprotein expressed in human tumor cell lines. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
Human tumor cell lines cultured in 75Se-containing media demonstrate four major 75Se-labeled cellular proteins (57, 22, 18, and 12 kDa) on sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and autoradiography.

Apolipophorin III in locusts: purification and characterization.

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1988
Three molecular species of apolipophorin III were purified from adult locust hemolymph by gel filtration and ion-exchange chromatography, and named apo-III-a, apo-III-b, and apo-III-c, respectively.

Probing the viscoelastic properties of polyacrylamide polymer gels in a wide frequency range [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2013
Polymer gels have been shown to behave as viscoelastic materials but only a small amount of data is usually provided in the glassy transition. In this paper, the dynamic moduli G' and G" of polyacrylamide hydrogels are investigated using both an AFM in contact force modulation mode and a classical rheometer. The validity is shown by perfect matching of

Ribonucleolytic resection is required for repair of strand displaced nonhomologous end-joining intermediates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Nonhomologous end-joining (NHEJ) pathways repair DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs) in eukaryotes and many prokaryotes, although it is not reported to operate in the third domain of life, archaea. Here, we describe a complete NHEJ complex, consisting of DNA

Proteins Specified by Influenza Virus in Infected Cells: Analysis by Polyacrylamide Gel Electrophoresis of Antigens Not Present in the Virus Particle

open access: yes, 1969
Summary Five polypeptides were found when purified influenza virus was analysed by electrophoresis on polyacrylamide gel. Previous work has shown that hyperimmune convalescent antibody prepared in mice and adsorbed with purified influenza virus which had

Reuse of Denaturing Polyacrylamide Gels for Short Tandem Repeat Analysis

open access: yesBioTechniques, 1998
Denaturing polyacrylamide gel electrophoretic analysis of amplified polymorphic short tandem repeat (STR) loci using fluorescent markers is a mainstay of forensic and paternity testing.

Ocular Proteomics with Emphasis on Two-Dimensional Gel Electrophoresis and Mass Spectrometry

open access: yesBiological Procedures Online, 2009
The intention of this review is to provide an overview of current methodologies employed in the rapidly developing field of ocular proteomics with emphasis on sample preparation, two-dimensional polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (2D-PAGE) and mass ...

The entrance dynamics of polymers into a gel [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2000
We use computer simulations to study the (driven) dynamics of a charged polymer in a disordered medium, thus mimicking the setting used in gel electrophoresis. In agreement with experiments, we find that inside the gel the mobility of the polymer is only a weak function of its length N.

B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia-associated nuclear antigens [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
One- and two-dimensional polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis were used to compare the composition of nuclear polypeptides from normal and В-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia mononuclear cells.
