Electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometry of chaetoglobosins
Rapid Communications in Mass Spectrometry, 2012RATIONALEChaetoglobosins are a family of macrocyclic polyketide alkaloids. They possess many similar isomers and exhibit a wide range of biological activities. Thus, there is a need for reliable, fast, and low‐cost analysis of this class of compounds.METHODSA series of seven chaetoglobosins from Chaetomium globosum, including two types of isomers, were

Surfactants Usable for Electrospray Ionization Mass Spectrometry
Analytical Biochemistry, 2000Surfactants suppress the electrospray ionization (ESI) of various compounds. Here we demonstrate that fluorinated surfactants such as perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and perfluorooctanesulfonic acid (PFOSA) could be employed for ESI-MS without a significant decrease in sensitivity.

Electrochemical processes in electrospray ionization mass spectrometry
Journal of Mass Spectrometry, 2000Editorial Comment Last month we presented, as a Special Feature, a set of five articles that constituted a Commentary on the fundamentals and mechanism of electrospray ionization (ESI). These articles produced some lively discussion among the authors on the role of electrochemistry in ESI.

Electrospray ionization mass spectrometry fingerprinting of beer
The Analyst, 2005After just simple degassing, dilution, pH adjustment and direct flow injection, characteristic fingerprint spectra of beer samples have been obtained by fast (few seconds) electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS) analysis in both the negative and positive ion modes.

ChemInform Abstract: Electrospray Ionization for Mass Spectrometry of Large Biomolecules
ChemInform, 1989Electrospray ionization has recently emerged as a powerful technique for producing intact ions in vacuo from large and complex species in solution. To an extent greater than has previously been possible with the more familiar "soft" ionization methods, this technique makes the power and elegance of mass spectrometric analysis applicable to the large ...

Determination of micelle mass by electrospray ionization mass spectrometry
Journal of Mass Spectrometry, 2005AbstractBy electrospray ionization (ESI) mass spectrometry, micelle solutions of sodium cholate were investigated in detail in the presence and absence of ethanol. The average aggregation number could be evaluated from the spectra acquired under conditions where soft collisions adequate to measure the micelle solution were induced, and the value agreed

Conformational effects in protein electrospray‐ionization mass spectrometry
Mass Spectrometry Reviews, 2015Electrospray‐ionization mass spectrometry (ESI‐MS) is a key tool of structural biology, complementing the information delivered by conventional biochemical and biophysical methods. Yet, the mechanism behind the conformational effects in protein ESI‐MS is an object of debate.

Monitoring Glycation of Lysozyme by Electrospray Ionization Mass Spectrometry
Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2000Electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS) was used to study the glycation of lysozyme by D-glucose (LZM-G) and by D-fructose (LZM-F) under dry heating conditions in the presence and in the absence of oxygen. ESI-MS proved to be a precise method for monitoring protein glycation with respect to following the extent of glycation and changes in ...

Electrode‐assisted desorption electrospray ionization mass spectrometry
Journal of Mass Spectrometry, 2010AbstractA new ion source has been developed for rapid, noncontact analysis of materials at ambient conditions. The method provides desorption of analytes under ambient conditions directly from different surfaces with little or no sample preparation. The new method, termed electrode‐assisted desorption electrospray ionization (EADESI), is on the basis ...

Sample Preparation for Probe Electrospray Ionization Mass Spectrometry
Journal of Visualized Experiments, 2020Mass spectrometry (MS) is a powerful tool in analytical chemistry because it provides very accurate information about molecules, such as mass-to-charge ratios (m/z), which are useful to deduce molecular weights and structures. While it is essentially a destructive analytical method, recent advancements in the ambient ionization technique have enabled ...
