Quantification of voriconazole in plasma by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
A convenient liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry method for the quantification of the triazole antifungal agent voriconazole in plasma samples is described. Fenbuconazole is used as an internal standard.

Ambient ionization mass spectrometry in brain cancer diagnosis

open access: yesJournal of Mass Spectrometry and Advances in the Clinical Lab
Cancer is the second leading cause of death in the United States, and with ongoing population growth and aging, its annual incidence continues to rise. Glioma is a malignant tumor of the brain and central nervous system (CNS).

A targeted mass spectrometric analysis of phosphatidylinositol phosphate species

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2005
The development of a new mass spectrometric lipid profiling methodology permits the identification of cellular phosphatidylinositol monophosphate/phosphatidylinositol bisphosphate/phosphatidylinositol trisphosphate (PIP/PIP2/PIP3) species that includes ...

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

ATP13A2 is involved in intracellular polyamine transport in lung epithelial cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Spermidine transport in lung epithelial cells involves the polyamine transporter ATP13A2. Cell proliferation is associated with the upregulation of ATP13A2. Polyamines are present in all living cells and are implicated in various crucial cellular processes such as proliferation, apoptosis and autophagy.

Highly Improved Electrospray Ionization-Mass Spectrometry Detection of G-Quadruplex-Folded Oligonucleotides and Their Complexes with Small Molecules [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
G-quadruplexes are nucleic acids structures stabilized by physiological concentration of potassium ions. Because low stability G-quadruplexes are hardly detectable by mass spectrometry, we optimized solvent conditions: isopropanol in a triethylamine ...

C2α‐carbanion‐protonating glutamate discloses tradeoffs between substrate accommodation and reaction rate in actinobacterial 2‐hydroxyacyl‐CoA lyase

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Enzymes of the 2‐hydroxyacyl‐CoA lyase group catalyze the condensation of formyl‐CoA with aldehydes or ketones. Thus, by structural adaptation of active sites, practically any pharmaceutically and industrially important 2‐hydroxyacid could be biotechnologically synthesized. Combining crystal structure analysis, active site mutations and kinetic assays,
