This study presents a magneto‐mechanical strategy that incorporates FP@MSCs into an aligned PCL/GelMA nerve guidance conduit. Magnetic stimulation increases membrane tension in FP@MSCs, triggering cytoskeletal remodeling, Schwann cell‐like differentiation, and TIMP1 secretion. TIMP1 activates ITGB1/CD63–FAK signaling in NE‐4C cells, increasing membrane

Genetically Programmed Shape‐Morphing of Engineered Living Materials
Here, bacterial and mammalian engineered living materials (ELMs) are presented, in which living cells direct genetically programmed and enzymatically mediated shape‐morphing. The resulting deformation and shape‐recovery can be actuated in a genetically controlled manner by an ELM incorporating out‐of‐equilibrium counteracting biochemical reactions with

MEMS-actuated wavelength drop filter based on microsphere whispering gallery modes [PDF]
MEMS-enabled tuneable optical coupling between optical microsphere resonators and optical fibre waveguides is reported. We describe the design, fabrication and experimental characterization of a MEMS platform, based on electrothermal actuators, which ...

A V-Shaped Actuator Utilizing Electrostatic Force
In this study, we propose a new ‘V’-shaped actuator with two panels and experimentally and theoretically investigate its actuation to find the most efficient structure. The V-shaped actuator operates like a seesaw.

Structure‐Property Relationships in Catecholamine Coatings for Broad Surface Functionalization
Inspired by mussel adhesive proteins (MAPs), six catecholamine molecules with different molecular structure were systematically characterized and compared based on their ability to form homogeneous, reactive coatings. Highlighting candidates capable of balancing coating properties of interest, their successful use as primer layers for organic and ...

An FEM Study on Minimizing Electrostatic Cross-Talk in a Comb Drive Micro Mirror Array
We are developing a phase-modulating micro mirror-array spatial light modulator to be used for real holography within the EU-funded project REALHOLO, featuring millions of pixels that can be individually positioned in a piston mode at a large frame rate.

Full‐Field Damage Monitoring in Architected Lattices Using In situ Electrical Impedance Tomography
In situ electrical impedance tomography (EIT) turns 3D‐printed, CNT‐infused architected lattices into full‐field damage‐imaging systems. Tunable Voronoi‐based geometries act as active sensing architectures, enabling conductivity maps to detect early‐stage damage and localise sequential ligament fracture before catastrophic failure.

Development of a micromachined electrostatically suspended gyroscope
In this thesis, a new approach based on an electrostatically suspended gyroscope (ESG) was explored in order to improve the performance of micromachined gyroscopes.

Dielectric charging effects on Parylene electrostatic actuators [PDF]
We report here the first characterization of dielectric charging effects on Parylene electrostatic actuators. High-resistivity Parylene in-between air gaps can cause undesirable charging effects due to air ionization when operating as electrostatic ...
