Enhancement of electrostatic field by a metamaterial electrostatic concentrator

Journal of Alloys and Compounds, 2017
Abstract In this work, we propose an electrostatic field concentrator using electrostatic metamaterial. Specifically, a shell with anisotropic dielectric constant is employed to concentrate the electrostatic field into core region to achieve an enhanced electrostatic field (192% of the applied electrostatic field intensity) and keep the external ...

Electrostatic fields in ionography

Medical Physics, 1975
There is renewed interest in diagnostic radiology in electrostatic methods of imaging, such as xeroradiography and ionography. This is due to the fact that edge contrast can be achieved, aiding in the visualization of soft tissue tumors. In analyzing the image forming properties of these systems, we chose to solve the electrostatic problems by the ...

Extended Systems in Electrostatic Fields

Zeitschrift für Physikalische Chemie, 2010
Abstract The basic principles behind a theoretical method for treating infinite, periodic systems exposed to an external electrostatic field are outlined. The approach, based on the vector-potential description of the external field, leads to single-particle Hartree-Fock or Kohn-Sham equations that differ from the ...

Fundamentals of Electrostatic and Quasi-electrostatic Fields

2020
This chapter explains the fundamental characteristics of the electrostatic and quasi-electrostatic fields that the book covers. It deals with basic equations, boundary conditions, and the effects of conduction, among others. The “uniqueness theorem” in electric fields is also explained.

The Electrostatic Field

1968
In this chapter we shall be concerned with systems in which the charge distribution is static, residing on fixed bodies. The general expressions that we have obtained for the field intensities and potentials become very much simplified by the restriction to static systems.

Automatic Plotting of Electrostatic Fields

Review of Scientific Instruments, 1948
An apparatus is described by means of which plots of the equipotentials of two-dimensional fields may be made automatically from models of the electrodes. The usual electrolytic tank method has been extended by the addition of a servomechanism which causes the probe to traverse an equipotential automatically. A stepping relay operated by a limit switch

The Polarizability of the Neutron in an Electrostatic Field

Physical Review, 1948
In an applied electrostatic field the meson-charge cloud about a neutron should become polarized. The dipole moment for a neutron in an electrostatic field E is $(\frac{{\ensuremath{\epsilon}}^{2}{g}^{2}}{{\ensuremath{\mu}}^{3}})\mathrm{E}$. This should give rise to an attractive force between a neutron and a charged particle.

Geometry of Electrostatic Fields

Geometry & Graphics, 2018
Electrostatic fields have been most fully studied as special cases of electromagnetic field. They are created by a set of charged bodies that are considered immovable in relation to the observer and unchanged in time [1–3; 19; 20; 27]. Since any field is characterized by basic quantities, then such quantities for electrostatic fields are strength E and

The electrostatic field in the ionosphere

Planetary and Space Science, 1973
Abstract Theoretical calculations of the electrostatic field in the ionosphere are presented for different seasons and longitude zones. The corresponding current systems have been shown earlier to give good agreement with the geomagnetic Sq variations.

The electrostatic field at the magnetopause

Planetary and Space Science, 1970
Abstract The discharge through the magnetosphere-ionosphere circuit of the electrostatic field at the magnetopause is examined quantitatively using an idealized circuit analogue. The two geomagnetic flux tubes linking the magnetopause to the ionosphere are treated as uniform transmission lines and the magnetopause and ionosphere are regarded as ...
