An analytical electrothermal model of a 1D electrothermal MEMS micromirror

SPIE Proceedings, 2005
We have developed an analytical model that describes the steady-state thermal behavior of a 1-D electrothermal bimorph MEMS micromirror. The steady-state 1-D heat transport equation is used to solve for the temperature distribution of the device upon actuation. Three models are developed using different thermal conditions on the device.

The electrothermal ramjet

Journal of Spacecraft and Rockets, 1982
An electrothermal ramjet configuration is examined as a possible alternative to rail guns and mass drivers for high acceleration launch missions. For a specific mission (earth escape) the idealized performance of the electrothermal ramjet, the electrothermal rocket and the electromagnetic acceleration system are compared. This comparison indicates that

Electrothermal chondroplasty—bipolar

Clinics in Sports Medicine, 2002
The use of bRF for the debridement of degenerative AC appears safe and at least as effective as mechanical debridement. The benefit of a residual smooth surface, improved surgical access, and minimal collateral damage makes its use on AC attractive.

Pulpal response in electrothermal debonding

American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, 1995
An alternative method to conventional bracket removal that minimizes the potential for ceramic bracket failure as well as trauma to the enamel surface is electrothermal debonding (ETD). However, the potential for pulpal damage using ETD on ceramic brackets still needs assessment.

Electrothermal stirring for heterogeneous immunoassays

Lab on a Chip, 2005
A technique is proposed to enhance microfluidic immuno-sensors, for example, immunoassays, in which a ligand immobilized on a microchannel wall specifically binds analyte flowing through the channel. These sensors can be limited in both response time and sensitivity by the diffusion of analyte to the sensing surface.

An electrothermal micromixer for molecular analysis

2009 4th IEEE International Conference on Nano/Micro Engineered and Molecular Systems, 2009
Diffusion is often the rate-limiting step in microfluidic-based biochemical analysis systems. In this paper, an alternative current electrothermal mixer for molecular diagnostic is presented. The mixer consists of a concentric electrode design integrated in a microfluidic cartridge.
