Nonlinear Displacement of the Electrothermal V‐Shaped Actuator

open access: yesShock and Vibration
This article proposes a formula for calculating the nonlinear displacement of the electrothermal V‐shaped actuator aims to determine more accurately its displacement. The nonlinear displacement model is established based on the axial deformation of V‐beams with two fixed ends. Hence, the theoretical displacements of a particular V‐shaped actuator (i.e.

Highly Tunable Electrothermally and Electrostatically Actuated Resonators [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Microelectromechanical Systems, 2016
This paper demonstrates experimentally, theoretically, and numerically for the first time, a wide-range tunability of an in-plane clamped-clamped microbeam, bridge, and resonator actuated electrothermally and electrostatically. Using both actuation methods, we demonstrate that a single resonator can be operated at a wide range of frequencies.
