Effect of symmetry-breaking on the MHD edge stability limit of tokamak plasmas

open access: yesNuclear Fusion
We demonstrate for the first time that symmetry-breaking in tokamak plasmas reduces the window of stable edge operational space, leading to a lower achievable edge pressure gradient.

Precipitation of niobic acid from potassium niobate in sulphuric acid solution: A route to niobium oxide

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
Graphical abstract illustrating the niobic acid precipitation process applied and the product obtained. Abstract This study investigates the precipitation of niobic acid (Nb2O5.nH2O) from potassium niobate solution with addition of sulphuric acid, and its subsequent thermal conversion into niobium oxide (Nb2O5). Thermodynamic modelling with PHREEQC and

Transient Charging Dynamics in Stacked Ga2O3/ZnO Photovoltaic Units Governing Wavelength‐Selective Polarity Switching

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
This work reveals a “Photovoltaic‐Capacitance” coupling mechanism in stacked Ga2O3/ZnO devices, defining the ZnO/graphene interface as a novel Photovoltaic Dynamic‐Capacitor (PDC). The wavelength‐selective bipolar response enables a physical layer secure communication protocol based on ternary optical logic (“1,” “0,” “−1”).

Origin of the up/down poloidal asymmetric dependence of ELM control in ITER-like RMP configuration in KSTAR

open access: yesNuclear Fusion
Recent edge-localized modes (ELM) control experiments via resonant magnetic perturbation (RMP) in KSTAR have shown a strong up/down poloidal asymmetric coupling dependence.

Modelling the ability of legumes to suppress weeds [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The ability of different legume cover crops to suppress annual weeds during the early establishment phase was compared using a simulation model of inter-plant competition and field observations.

Hetero‐Polyatomic Phosphorous Anion‐Based High‐Entropy Electrocatalyst for Efficient Bifunctional Water Electrolysis in Anion Exchange Membrane Water Electrolyzers

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
This study aims to propose and design a highly active and durable bifunctional hetero‐polyatomic phosphorous anions‐based electrocatalyst (CoFeNiMoTiPi) featuring an amorphous, porous structure synthesized via a simple hierarchical hybrid approach based on a combination of electrochemical deposition.

Investigation of divertor heat flux characteristics under the influence of resonant magnetic perturbations on EAST

open access: yesNuclear Fusion
Controlling the splitting divertor heat flux caused by resonant magnetic perturbations (RMPs) is a topic of concern for fusion devices. As a fundamental prerequisite, it is necessary to understand the characteristics of the heat flux distribution under ...

Phenolate‐ and Alcoholate‐Based Chromium N‐Heterocyclic Carbene Complexes: Structural Peculiarities, Magnetometric and Electron Paramagnetic Resonance Study, and Catalytic Ethylene Oligomerization

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Inorganic Chemistry, EarlyView.
The first low‐oxidation (I/III) state chromium‐complex bearing a O‐chelating NHC ligand has been synthesized and structurally characterized by single‐crystal X‐ray analysis. The formation of the mixed‐valence species was further supported by SQUID magnetometry and high‐field electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy.
