In vitro reactivation of spindle elongation in fission yeast nuc2 mutant cells. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
To investigate the mechanisms of spindle elongation and chromosome separation in the fission yeast Schizosaccharomyces pombe, we have developed an in vitro assay using a temperature-sensitive mutant strain, nuc2.

Stress-strain behavior and geometrical properties of packings of elongated particles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We present a numerical analysis of the effect of particle elongation on the quasistatic behavior of sheared granular media by means of the Contact Dynamics method. The particle shapes are rounded-cap rectangles characterized by their elongation.

PICALM::MLLT10 translocated leukemia

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This comprehensive review of PICALM::MLLT10 translocated acute leukemia provides an in‐depth review of the structure and function of CALM, AF10, and the fusion oncoprotein (1). The multifaceted molecular mechanisms of oncogenesis, including nucleocytoplasmic shuttling (2), epigenetic modifications (3), and disruption of endocytosis (4), are then ...

Revealing the Interaction Between Dislocations and LPSO-Precipitates Structure in a Mg-Y-Al Alloy at Different Temperatures

open access: yesCrystals
Precipitation strengthening represents a crucial strengthening approach in the realm of metals, with particular significance for magnesium. In this study, a complex LPSO–precipitate structure, which is constituted of the principal secondary phases in Mg ...

Tomato phyE is Required for Shade Avoidance in the Absence of phyB1 and phyB2.

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2016
The phytochrome (phy) family of red and far-red photoreceptors provides plants with critical information about their surrounding environment and can signal downstream developmental and physiological changes.

Influence of Sheet Extensibility on Tearing Strength [PDF]

open access: yes, 1969
This paper investigates the possibility that there is a relationship between the tearing properties and elongation properties of a sheet of paper. A lack of specific information in the literature and the advent of the in-plane tear method contributed to ...

Graphene kirigami as a platform for stretchable and tunable quantum dot arrays [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The quantum transport properties of a graphene kirigami similar to those studied in recent experiments are calculated in the regime of elastic, reversible deformations.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

The Achilles tendon resting angle as an indirect measure of Achilles tendon length following rupture, repair, and rehabilitation

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Sports Medicine, Arthroscopy, Rehabilitation and Technology, 2015
Background: Rupture of the Achilles tendon may result in reduced functional activity and reduced plantar flexion strength. These changes may arise from elongation of the Achilles tendon.
