Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

Quantitative Nano-characterization of Polymers Using Atomic Force Microscopy

open access: yesCHIMIA, 2017
The present article offers an overview on the use of atomic force microscopy (AFM) to characterize the nanomechanical properties of polymers. AFM imaging reveals the conformations of polymer molecules at solid– liquid interfaces.

Horizontal vibration response analysis of piles in liquefied soil under Winkler foundation model

open access: yesRock and Soil Mechanics, 2020
By considering the condition of vertical load, the soil after complete liquefaction is regarded as fluid, and the pile foundation is equivalent to the Euler-Bernoulli beam model.

Structure design and optimization for a cutting force measurement tool with embedded nickel–chromium film sensor

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2018
The cutting force generated during the cutting process affects the quality of the workpieces and tool wear. Accurate real-time monitoring of cutting forces plays an important role in the study of cutting mechanism and machining quality improvement.

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Somatic mutational landscape in von Hippel–Lindau familial hemangioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The causes of central nervous system (CNS) hemangioblastoma in Von Hippel–Lindau (vHL) disease are unclear. We used Whole Exome Sequencing (WES) on familial hemangioblastoma to investigate events that underlie tumor development. Our findings suggest that VHL loss creates a permissive environment for tumor formation, while additional alterations ...

Dowel Behavior of Rebars in Small Concrete Block for Sliding Slab Track on Railway Bridges

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, 2018
In recent years, several studies have investigated the sliding slab track for railway bridges. In the design of sliding slab tracks, one of the most important considerations is to evaluate the shear capacity of the lateral supporting concrete blocks in ...

A Discussion on Modeling Shape Memory Alloy Embedded in A Composite Laminate as Axial Force and Elastic Foundation

open access: yes, 2007
In this paper, the possible error sources of the composite natural frequencies due to modeling the shape memory alloy (SMA) wire as an axial force or an elastic foundation and anisotropy are discussed.

Weakening the nuclear envelope: Lamin B receptor in melanoma metastasis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
LBR‐driven nuclear fragility supports melanoma invasion. A: Melanocyte presents low LBR (Lamin B Receptor) levels, maintaining nuclear integrity and lamina‐chromatin tethering. B: During malignant progression, upregulation of LBR clusters at the INM (Inner Nuclear Membrane) during confined migration causes local lamina weakening and cholesterol ...
