Impact of molecular diagnostics and targeted cancer therapy on patient outcomes (MODIFY): a retrospective study of the implementation of precision oncology

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The authors conducted a retrospective study of 94 patients with advanced cancer who underwent next‐generation sequencing (NGS) gene panel analysis and received targeted treatments when applicable. Results further support evidence indicating that molecular profiling provides clinical benefit.

Cystatin A promotes the antitumor activity of T helper type 1 cells and dendritic cells in murine models of pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is a disease with very poor prognosis due to therapeutic limitations. We investigated the antitumor effects of cystatin A (CSTA) in PDAC murine models. We are first to confirm that CSTA enhances T helper type 1‐mediated antitumor effects through promotion of dendritic cells and M1 macrophage activity. CSTA can be

Etoposide‐induced cancer cell death: roles of mitochondrial VDAC1 and calpain, and resistance mechanisms

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The complex mode of action of the topoisomerase II inhibitor etoposide in triggering apoptosis involves several mechanisms: overexpression of the mitochondrial protein VDAC1, leading to its oligomerization and formation of a large channel that mediates the release of pro‐apoptotic protein; and overexpression of the apoptosis regulators p53, Bax, and ...

Embedded Patient Monitoring System

open access: yesInternational Journal of Power Electronics and Drive Systems (IJPEDS), 2019
<p>ICU remains for Intensive Care Unit, a place in the recuperating office where wiped out patients are checked eagerly. Commonly, the patient-staff extent is low and the LIFE-SAVING EQUIPMENT used is outstandingly bleeding edge Generally ICU is a healing facility for course of action of genuine nursing and remedial consideration of essentially ...

Analysis of comprehensive genomic profiling of solid tumors with a novel assay for broad analysis in clinical diagnostics

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In molecular cancer diagnostics, comprehensive genomic profiling (CGP) is going to replace the small NGS panels since it provides all clinically relevant somatic variants as well as genomic biomarkers with clinical value. Here, we compared two CGP assays and demonstrate that the choice for diagnostic implementation will depend on the specific ...

Steady-State Models of STATCOM and UPFC using Flexible Holomorphic Embedding [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
To investigate the effect and ability of FACTS devices using the Fast and Flexible Holomorphic Embedding technique (FFHE), it is necessary to develop an embedded system for these devices. Therefore, this paper presents FFHE based embedded system for STATCOM and UPFC. The embedded system is also proposed for their controlling modes.

Multi-class motor imagery EEG decoding for brain-computer interfaces

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience, 2012
Recent studies show that scalp electroencephalography (EEG) as a non-invasive interface has great potential for brain-computer interfaces (BCIs). However, one factor that has limited practical applications for EEG-based BCI so far is the difficulty to ...

Response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy in early breast cancers is associated with epithelial–mesenchymal transition and tumor‐infiltrating lymphocytes

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT) and tumor‐infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) are associated with early breast cancer response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC). This study evaluated EMT and TIL shifts, with immunofluorescence and RNA sequencing, at diagnosis and in residual tumors as potential biomarkers associated with treatment response.

On the embedding problem for Čebyšev systems

open access: yesJournal of Approximation Theory, 1980
AbstractIt is shown by an example that there are continuously differentiable functions with only finitely many zeros that cannot be considered as elements of a Čebysěv system of continuous functions.
