Thrombolytic proteins profiling: High‐throughput activity, selectivity, and resistance assays

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We present optimized biochemical protocols for evaluating thrombolytic proteins, enabling rapid and robust screening of enzymatic activity, inhibition resistance, and fibrin affinity, stimulation, and selectivity. The outcome translates to key clinical indicators such as biological half‐life and bleeding risk. These assays streamline the development of

Cerebral microembolization in patients with prosthetic valve and anticoagulation assessment using transcranial Doppler ultrasonography

open access: yesAl-Azhar Assiut Medical Journal, 2018
Background Transcranial Doppler detection of microemboli is widely described, and thromboembolism is a major cause of morbidity in patients with prosthetic heart valves. They require lifelong anticoagulation to minimize thrombotic complications.

Disseminated intravascular coagulation type of amniotic fluid embolism: a challenging case report with favorable outcome

open access: yesThe Pan African Medical Journal, 2021
Amniotic fluid embolism (AFE) is an unforeseeable, life-threatening complication of pregnancy and child birth. Although rare in an absolute sense, most contemporary series of maternal deaths from developed countries report AFE as a leading cause of ...

Impact of Stress‐Induced Hyperglycemia on In‐Hospital Medical Complications in Patients With Acute Stroke: From a Large‐Scale Nationwide Longitudinal Registry

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aims This study aimed to explore the relationship between stress‐induced hyperglycemia (SIH) and in‐hospital medical complications in patients with acute stroke. Methods We enrolled 865,765 patients with acute stroke from the Chinese Stroke Center Alliance cohort.

Interventricular septum hydatid cyst presenting with acute lower limb ischemia: a case report [PDF]

open access: yesLibyan Journal of Medicine, 2015
Cardiac hydatid cysts are rarely seen. The presentation of an acute lower limb ischemia secondary to embolization from an interventricular hydatic cyst is also rare.

Xylem surfactants introduce a new element to the cohesion-tension theory [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Vascular plants transport water under negative pressure without constantly creating gas bubbles that would disable their hydraulic systems. Attempts to replicate this feat in artificial systems almost invariably result in bubble formation, except under ...

Unusual Pulmonary Embolism Septic Pulmonary Embolism and Amniotic Fluid Embolism

open access: yesCirculation Journal, 2007
Septic and amniotic fluid emboli are rare sources of pulmonary embolism (PE), so the present study sought to elucidate the background of these cases.A total of 11,367 PE cases were identified from 396,982 postmortem examinations. The incidence of septic PE was 247 (2.2%) of the total. The origin of infection was found in 85.6% of the cases.

Relative risk of pulmonary embolism in the very elderly compared with the elderly

open access: yesClinical Interventions in Aging, 2013
Josef Yayan Department of Internal Medicine, University Hospital of Saarland, Homburg/Saar, Germany Background: Pulmonary embolism (PE) can be an acute, life-threatening emergency, and studies suggest that advanced age is a risk factor for this ...
