Distribution of versican and hyaluronan in the mouse uterus during decidualization

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Medical and Biological Research, 2003
Preparation for embryo implantation requires extensive adaptation of the uterine microenvironment. This process consists of cell proliferation and cell differentiation resulting in the transformation of endometrial fibroblasts into a new type of cell ...

3D Bioprinted Renal Constructs Using Kidney‐Specific ECM Bioink System on Kidney Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A kidney‐specific bioink derived from decellularized porcine kidney tissue supports the encapsulation, viability, and maturation of human primary kidney cells within 3D bioprinted constructs. In vivo, it also promotes the recruitment of host renal progenitor cells, collectively enhancing structural and functional regeneration of renal tissue.

Pulse of inflammatory proteins in the pregnant uterus of European polecats (Mustela putorius) leading to the time of implantation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Uterine secretory proteins protect the uterus and conceptuses against infection, facilitate implantation, control cellular damage resulting from implantation, and supply pre-implantation embryos with nutrients.

Regulatory T cells in embryo implantation and the immune response to pregnancy

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Investigation, 2018
At implantation, the embryo expresses paternally derived alloantigens and evokes inflammation that can threaten reproductive success. To ensure a robust placenta and sustainable pregnancy, an active state of maternal immune tolerance mediated by CD4 ...

Implantable Light‐Powered Human Designer Cells for Electrical Energy Generation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Inspired by the eel's electric organ, a miniature implantable biohybrid device is developed to generate electricity under light activation. The device utilizes a light‐dependent ion gradient formation that induced by genetically engineered human designer cells that express light‐sensitive membrane ion channels and proton pumps, working in synergy with ...

Sequential embryo transfer combined with intrauterine perfusion improved pregnancy outcomes in patients with recurrent implantation failure

open access: yesBMC Women's Health
Objective To compare the application of sequential embryo transfer, cleavage embryo transfer, and blastocyst transfer combined with intrauterine perfusion in frozen–thawed embryo transfer cycles in patients with recurrent implantation failure to provide ...

Micro‐Strain Responsive Near‐Infrared Mechanoluminescence for Potential Nondestructive Artificial Joint Stress Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
In situ and real‐time stress sensing during total knee replacement procedure is expected to be realized based on near‐infrared mechanoluminescent phosphor of Sr3Sn1.98Sb0.02O6.99, which has the lowest strain sensitivity as low as 50 µst. Abstract Recently, joint replacement surgery is facing significant challenges of patient dissatisfaction and the ...

Uterine glands coordinate on-time embryo implantation and impact endometrial decidualization for pregnancy success

open access: yesNature Communications, 2018
Uterine glands are essential for pregnancy establishment. By employing forkhead box A2 (FOXA2)-deficient mouse models coupled with leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF) repletion, we reveal definitive roles of uterine glands in embryo implantation and stromal

Human pre-implantation embryo development

open access: yesDevelopment, 2012
Understanding human pre-implantation development has important implications for assisted reproductive technology (ART) and for human embryonic stem cell (hESC)-based therapies. Owing to limited resources, the cellular and molecular mechanisms governing this early stage of human development are poorly understood.
