The procedure of embryo transfer now in use is described. In the donors, hormones are used to control the time of oestrus and induce superovulation, the preparations used, the methods employed and the phase of treatment are mentioned. In the recipient, synchrony of the oestrus is essential for successful embryo transfer and is achieved by progestagen ...

Success and failure of embryo transfer involves at least five major variables: (1) technique, (2) what is transferred, (3) when transfer occurs, (4) endometrial status at transfer, and (5) endometrial support subsequent to transfer. Because of these and other variables associated with programs of in vitro fertilization, it is quite impossible to ...

Embryo transfer is the final and rate-limiting step of the assisted reproductive technique. Few advances have occurred in the last few decades with regard to this procedure. Studies conducted thus far have focused on factors and interventions taking place before, during and after this procedure. These factors are highly varied and range from methods to

At the end of the day, single embryo transfer (SET) is not a big technical innovation, but rather more of an ideology, another way of defining success, not only through pregnancy rates in the fresh cycle. Successful implementation of SET requires that everybody involved in the IVF treatment perform at their best, and some authors claim that the degree ...

Current procedures for collection and transfer of equine embryos are presented. Factors affecting embryo recovery and pregnancy rates after transfer are discussed, and morphologic assessment and development of the embryo are described.

Almost 100 years have passed since Heape (1891) reported the transfer of two-cell embryos from an Angora rabbit to the oviducts of a pregnant Belgian hare. This experiment showed that the reproductive tract of the recipient had no effect on the genetic composition of the fetus, because transferred embryos resulted in Angora offspring.

Residual embryos in failed embryo transfer
Fertility and Sterility, 1986One hundred thirteen embryo transfers (ETs) were performed in an in vitro fertilization and ET program of which residual or extruded embryos were found in 17 transfers (15%). Residual or extruded embryos are those embryos found outside the uterine cavity, either at the cervical os, on the vaginal speculum, or remaining in the catheter after an ET ...

Embryo transfer surgery is an essential step in the process of generating gene-modified mice, regardless of whether the embryos were modified by DNA, RNA CRISPR components, or embryonic stem cells, or whether they were microinjected or electroporated.

Ultrasound-guided embryo transfer and the accuracy of trial embryo transfer
Human Reproduction, 2005Studies have suggested that ultrasound-guided embryo transfer (UG-ET) may improve the outcome in IVF; however, several factors may account for the improvement in pregnancy rate. This study examines the use of ultrasound to determine the accuracy of trial transfer (TT) in preparation for ET.Sixty-seven consecutive patients prospectively underwent UG-ET ...

Number of Embryos Transferred and Implantation
Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, 2004Abstract: Multiple pregnancies are considered the most frequent and serious complication of assisted reproduction technology. To reduce the frequency of multiple pregnancies, several centers have adopted a policy of reducing the number of embryos transferred in the uterus, suggesting single embryo transfer.
