Auricular Embryonal Rhabdomyosarcoma
Dermatology, 1994Rhabdomyosarcoma is an uncommon tumour that may present at a wide variety of different sites. We report a 4-year-old girl who developed an embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma arising in the left pinna which was clinically indistinguishable from a lymphangioma. The case illustrates that this neoplasm can be easily misdiagnosed because of its variable morphology.

Genome activation is one of the first critical events in the life of the new organism. Both the timing of genome activation and the array of genes activated must be controlled correctly. Genome activation occurs in a stepwise manner, with some genes being transcribed well in advance of the major genome activation event, in which most housekeeping genes

Embryonic and post-embryonic development
1981The modern era of insect developmental study began almost a century ago with the outstanding descriptive work of Wheeler (1889, 1893) in the United States and Heymons (1895) in Germany. It is ironic that the developmental analysis of cockroaches, among the most studied insects, has advanced so little since.

Embryonic angiogenesis factors
Pharmacology & Therapeutics, 1991The vascular system develops during embryonic development by at least two distinct processes; vasculogenesis is the development of blood vessels from in situ differentiating angioblasts and angiogenesis is the sprouting of capillaries from pre-existing vessels. The molecular mechanisms involved in the regulation of these processes are poorly understood.

Summary. Seventeen hours after labelling the circulating iron‐βrglobulin, with 59Fe, 14–34 p. c. of the labeled iron is found in the 21 days old foetus of the rabbit.Exposure of the rabbit to 500 r of X‐rays increases the amount of 59Fe passing the placenta to almost twice the value in non‐exposed animals.Seventy‐three–eighty‐three p. c.

AbstractThis unit provides detailed protocols for dissecting embryonic organs and performing organ culture to study questions in developmental biology. Procedures are described here for dissecting organs such as kidney, lung, and salivary gland. The unit also contains commentary including troubleshooting for embryonic organ culture. Curr. Protoc.

[Embryonic genome activation].
Gynecologie, obstetrique & fertilite, 2008After fertilization in mammals, the genome of the newly formed embryo is first transcriptionally inactive. Development is then strictly dependent on the maternally inherited RNA and proteins present in the oocyte that were accumulated before ovulation during oocyte growth and maturation. The onset of transcription specific to the embryo, referred to as
