Glucocorticoids Alter Bone Microvascular Barrier via MAPK/Connexin43 Mechanisms

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 14, Issue 7, March 14, 2025.
Osteoporosis induced by Glucocorticoids (GCs) is a common complication of long‐term GC use in patients with inflammatory and autoimmune conditions, often leading to an increased fracture risk. A 3D bicellular endo‐osteo microfluidic platform is developed to explore pathogenic mechanisms underlying GCs‐induced osteoporosis, highlighting a novel MAPK ...

Fucosylated chondroitin sulfate alleviates colonic barrier dysfunction in Parkinson’s disease via epithelial cell modulation and microecology restoration

open access: yesJournal of Functional Foods
Gastrointestinal disturbances frequently precede motor dysfunction and the hallmark pathological features of Parkinson's disease (PD). Fucosylated chondroitin sulfate (fCS-Ib), a polysaccharide derived from the sea cucumber Isostichopus badionotus, has ...

Morphometric‐Assisted Prediction of Developmental Toxicity Using Stem Cell‐Based Embryo Models in Microwells

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This proof‐of‐concept study involves high‐throughput teratogenicity screening of compounds using XEn/EpiCs, a 3D stem cell‐based embryo model, within microwells. The term ‘morphotoxicity’ is introduced to complement traditional cytotoxicity assays through automated feature extraction and machine‐learning‐assisted classification of morphologies.
