Historical Foundation and Practical Guideline for Ferroelectric Switching Kinetic Studies

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The P and U pulses in the conventional PUND measurements are not identical because of the interplay between switching current and the measurement circuit components. This circuit effect can lead to a shift in polarization transients and misinterpreted physics in the switching kinetics.

Intranasal Dexmedetomidine Accompanied by Cartoon Video Preoperation for Reducing Emergence Delirium in Children Undergoing Strabismus Surgery: A Prospective Randomized Trial

open access: yesFrontiers in Surgery, 2021
Background: After general anesthesia, many pediatric patients present with emergence delirium (ED). The aim of this study was to determine whether dexmedetomidine intranasal premedication accompanied by a cartoon video 30 min before general anesthesia ...

Machine Learning‐Enhanced Ultrasensitive Immuno‐CRISPR Array Facilitates Early Diagnosis of Alzheimer's Disease by Detecting Multiple Plasma Biomarkers

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work presents a CRISPR‐based, ultrasensitive multiplex protein detection array capable of simultaneously analyzing six plasma biomarkers associated with Alzheimer's disease (AD). By integrating antibody‐mediated signal transduction, recombinase polymerase amplification, and spatially encoded CRISPR‐Cas12a, the system achieves detection sensitivity

Effect of a mother’s recorded voice on emergence from general anesthesia in pediatric patients: study protocol for a randomized controlled trial

open access: yesTrials, 2017
Background Emergence delirium is a behavioral disturbance after general anesthesia in children and may distress both the patients and the primary caregivers, such as parents and medical staff, looking after the patients.

Real‐Time Stress Visualization of Hydrogels Enabled by Supramolecularly Switched Stretch‐Induced Phase Separation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Supramolecular hydrogels enable real‐time visualization of mechanical stress through supramolecular switching mechanotransduction. Adamantane‐modified cellulose functions as a responsive domain that undergoes an on–off transition between hydrated and dehydrated states via reversible β‐cyclodextrin–adamantane complexation and decomplexation.

Delirium Screening in the Emergency Department: Evaluation and Intervention

open access: yesIsrael Journal of Health Policy Research, 2023
Abstract Background Between 8-17% of older adults, and up to 40% of those who arrive from nursing homes present with delirium upon admission to the Emergency Department [ED], yet the condition often goes undiagnosed by ED medical staff [ED staff].

Controllable Carbon Shell Encapsulation via Rapid Joule Heating Calcination for High‐Performance Asymmetric Supercapacitor With Suppressed Self‐Discharge and Robust Cycling Stability

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The H‐Fe3O4@C negative electrode and H‐NiCo2S4@C positive electrode are designed through a controllable carbon shell encapsulation strategy. The as‐constructed asymmetric supercapacitor presents robust cycling stability with 93.7% capacity retention after 25 000 cycles.

Paediatric emergence delirium

open access: yesContinuing Education in Anaesthesia Critical Care & Pain, 2013
A child with emergence delirium (ED) is in a ‘dissociated state of consciousness in which the child is irritable, uncompromising, uncooperative, incoherent, and inconsolably crying, moaning, kicking, or thrashing’. ED can disrupt the surgical repair, be distressing for parents and staff and may cause parental dissatisfaction with their child’s care ...
