The Gaia satellite: a tool for Emission Line Stars and Hot Stars [PDF]
The Gaia satellite will be launched at the end of 2011. It will observe at least 1 billion stars, and among them several million emission line stars and hot stars. Gaia will provide parallaxes for each star and spectra for stars till V magnitude equal to

Measurement of Interstellar Extinction in Emission Line Stars [PDF]
Usually selective interstellar extinction is derived by comparing the spectrum of a reddened star with an unreddened nearby star, preferably of the same spectral type. But in many cases this comparison is not possible, so that new methods have to be used.A direct measure of this quantity is possible when a spectrum shows a number of emission lines as ...

Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).

HD 327083 is a binary system that consists of two supergiant components and exhibits the B[e] phenomenon. In this paper, we report the determination of a new set of the system’s fundamental parameters using a combination of photometric and spectroscopic ...

Survivin and Aurora Kinase A control cell fate decisions during mitosis
Aurora A interacts with survivin during mitosis and regulates its centromeric role. Loss of Aurora A activity mislocalises survivin, the CPC and BubR1, leading to disruption of the spindle checkpoint and triggering premature mitotic exit, which we refer to as ‘mitotic slippage’.

Weak Metallic Emission Lines in Early B-Type Stars
Previously unrecognized weak emission lines originating from high excitation states of Si II (12.84 eV) and Al II (13.08 eV) are detected in the red region spectra of slowly rotating early B-type stars.

Spectroscopy of unusual emission-line stars
New spectroscopic observations are reported for ten stars that have been identified in the literature as having H-alpha emission with suspected F, G, or K spectral types. Three of the stars are shown to be BE stars, two are confirmed as early-type supergiants, three show composite (F or K + B) spectra, one is a 'post-T Tauri' star, and one is an ...

HdBe stars: hydrogen-deficient supergiants with emission lines [PDF]
The hydrogen-deficient B stars (often known as extreme-helium stars: EHes) show weak or absent Balmer lines and the following properties (Heber 1986a): Teff ~ 12 − 25kK, log g ~ 2 − 3, log nH ~ −3 − −4, nHe ≈ 0.99, nC ~ 0.01. Their galactic positions and apparent magnitudes indicate that they are low-mass supergiants belonging to the Galactic bulge ...

HDAC4 is degraded by the E3 ligase FBXW7. In colorectal cancer, FBXW7 mutations prevent HDAC4 degradation, leading to oxaliplatin resistance. Forced degradation of HDAC4 using a PROTAC compound restores drug sensitivity by resetting the super‐enhancer landscape, reprogramming the epigenetic state of FBXW7‐mutated cells to resemble oxaliplatin ...

New Symbiotic Stars from LAMOST DR10 Spectra and Multiband Photometry
The Symbiotic star (SySt) is a long-period interacting binary system, typically consisting of a white dwarf (WD) and a red giant surrounded by a nebula. These systems are natural astrophysical laboratories for investigating binary star evolution. In this
