USP29‐regulated noncanonical stabilization of the hypoxia‐inducible factor‐α in aggressive prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identify USP29 as the only DUB mirroring CA9 expression, a marker of hypoxia and HIF pathway activation associated with PCA aggressiveness. USP29 stabilizes HIF‐1α and HIF‐2α via a noncanonical mechanism that is independent of PHD/pVHL activity yet relies on proteasomal regulation, establishing USP29 as a previously unrecognized regulator of hypoxic

Seeded fault detection on helical gears with acoustic emission [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Acoustic emission (AE) is one of many technologies for health monitoring and diagnosis of rotating machines such as gearboxes. Although significant research has been undertaken in understanding the potential of AE in monitoring gearboxes this has been

MITF maintains genome stability in nonmelanocyte lineages

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
MITF is essential for melanocyte survival and acts as an oncogene in 10%–20% of melanomas. We show that MITF depletion causes genome instability in nonmelanocytic cells, leading to LATS2‐mediated P53 activation, cell cycle arrest, and apoptosis. This study highlights the role of MITF as a genome maintenance factor beyond the melanocyte lineage. Created

Raman‐based label‐free microscopic analysis of the pancreas in living zebrafish larvae

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Forward stimulated Raman scattering (F‐SRS) and epi coherent anti‐Stokes Raman scattering (E‐CARS) allow label‐free discrimination of distinct subcellular structures in the pancreas of living zebrafish larvae. Given the straightforward applicability, we anticipate broad implementation of Raman microscopy in other organs and across various biomedical ...

Survey of available technologies for zero carbon and energy balance houses [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
The decarbonization of industry is important to minimize the negative aspects of climate changes. One of the industrial direction is the civil engineering industry, including construction and building flats, houses, and commercial property.

RADIO CONTINUUM EMISSION FROM FS CMA STARS

open access: yes, 2020
RESUMEN Las estrellas tipo FS CMa muestran espectrosópticos con líneas de emisión y fuertes excesos infrarrojos. Se sabe muy poco de sus características en ondas de radio.

Impact of rising CO2 on emissions of volatile organic compounds: isoprene emission from Phragmites australis growing at elevated CO2 in a natural carbon dioxide spring. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Isoprene basal emission (the emission of isoprene from leaves exposed to a light intensity of 1000 mmol m-2 s-1 and maintained at a temperature of 30 â C) was measured in Phragmites australis plants growing under elevated CO2 in the Bossoleto CO2 ...

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

Computational Fluid Dynamics-Based Modeling of Methane Flows Around Oil and Gas Equipment

open access: yesAtmosphere
Recent studies estimate that emissions from oil and gas production facilities contribute between 20 and 50% of the total methane (CH4) emitted in the US; therefore, quantifying and reducing these emissions are crucial for achieving climate goals. Methane

Proteasomal degradation of intracellularly expressed Amblyomin‐X limits suicide gene therapy potential in melanoma cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study explores the feasibility of expressing the antitumoral protein Amblyomin‐X through a suicide gene therapy approach and investigates its intracellular fate after gene delivery. Although the gene is efficiently expressed, melanoma cells rapidly degrade the Amblyomin‐X protein via proteasome activity.
