Selective evolution of methanogenic communities by β-lactam antibiotics promotes methane production

open access: yesMicrobiology Spectrum
Biomethane, a clean energy source, plays a crucial role in addressing global energy and environmental challenges. However, its production has long been limited by the complexity of methanogenic precursor synthesis and the involvement of diverse microbial

Effect of Electrolytic Conditions on Electrodeposition of Manganese in NaCl-KCl Melt

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2018
In this paper, molten NaCl-KCl-MnCl2 mixture salts were used as electrolyte, tungsten as the cathode and graphite as the anode to explore the influence of different current density, electrolysis temperature and electrolysis time on current efficiency and

Low Emissions Aftertreatment and Diesel Emissions Reduction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Detroit Diesel Corporation (DDC) has successfully completed a five-year Low Emissions Aftertreatment and Diesel Emissions Reduction (LEADER) program under a DOE project entitled: ''Research and Development for Compression-Ignition Direct-Injection Engines (CIDI) and Aftertreatment Sub-Systems''. The objectives of the LEADER Program were to: Demonstrate

NOx Prediction Based on Cylinder Pressure Measurement for Engine Emission Monitoring

open access: yes, 2011
Meeting European NOx emission standards is one of the biggest challenges facing automotive industries. The available technologies to measure NOx emission are dependent on measurement of different NOx species.

One size does not fit all: An in vitro evaluation of the effects of bezafibrate and medroxyprogesterone acetate on human SH‐SY5Y and U‐87 MG cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Drugs previously repurposed to target blood cancers reduced neuroblastoma and glioblastoma cell growth and viability. However, their levels of anticancer activity were different and their clinical application may be problematic due to side effects at effective doses.

National Policies for Global Emission Reductions: Effectiveness of Carbon Emission Reductions in International Supply Chains

open access: yesEcological Economics, 2019
Abstract In a world with diverging emission reduction targets, national climate policies might be ineffective in reducing consumption-based CO2 emissions (carbon footprints), i.e. emissions of final demand that are embodied across the whole supply chain, including international fractions.

Cyclic azapeptide CD36 ligand attenuates cardiac injury and reduces long‐chain fatty acid accumulation after myocardial ischemia–reperfusion in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

Analysis and simulation of traffic management actions for traffic emission reduction

open access: yes, 2012
This thesis wants to present the reduction of air pollution caused by traffic by implementing certain actions. This topic takes importance after that the law 2008/50/EC was passed and the countries and concretely the cities have to fulfill with it.

UiO‐66 metal–organic frameworks in biomedicine: From structural tunability to bioimaging, photodiagnostics, and photodynamic cancer therapy

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
UiO‐66(Zr) metal–organic frameworks are chemically stable, biocompatible, and highly tunable nanomaterials. Their modular structure enables controlled drug delivery, multimodal bioimaging, and light‐activated photodynamic therapy, supporting integrated diagnostic and therapeutic (theranostic) applications in cancer and biomedical research.

Long Term Versus Temporary Certified Emission Reductions in Forest Carbon-Sequestration Programs [PDF]

open access: yes
Under the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) of the Kyoto Protocol, forest projects can receive returns for carbon sequestration via two credit instruments: temporary (tCERs) or long-term certified emission reductions (lCERs).
