Iron amendment decreases methane emissions from subtropical paddies by altering soil microbial communities [PDF]

open access: yesMicrobiology Spectrum
Methane (CH4) emissions from flooded paddy fields, exacerbated by excessive nitrogen (N) fertilizer application, trigger serious climate challenges. The impact of reducing N fertilization rate combined with iron (Fe) amendment on CH4 emissions remains ...

NIR‐Emissive Chromium(0), Molybdenum(0), and Tungsten(0) Complexes in the Solid State at Room Temperature [PDF]

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, 2021
AbstractThe development of NIR emitters based on earth‐abundant elements is an important goal in contemporary science. We present here Cr(0), Mo(0), and W(0) carbonyl complexes with a pyridyl‐mesoionic carbene (MIC) based ligand. A detailed photophysical investigation shows that all the complexes exhibit dual emissions in the VIS and in the NIR region.

The Effects of Dietary Crude Protein Level on Ammonia Emissions from Slurry from Lactating Holstein-Friesian Cows as Measured in Open-Circuit Respiration Chambers

open access: yesAnimals, 2022
The effect of dietary crude protein (CP) level on ammonia (NH3) emissions from slurry from lactating Holstein-Friesian cows was studied. Twenty-four-hour total collections of faeces and urine were made from 24 lactating Holstein-Friesian cows fed four ...

Characterization of Exhaust CO, HC and NOx Emissions from Light-Duty Vehicles under Real Driving Conditions

open access: yesAtmosphere, 2021
On-road exhaust emissions from light-duty vehicles are greatly influenced by driving conditions. In this study, two light-duty passenger cars (LDPCs) and three light-duty diesel trucks (LDDTs) were tested to investigate the on-road emission factors (EFs)

28SiOv= 0J= 1–0 emission from evolved stars [PDF]

open access: yesAstronomy & Astrophysics, 2016
Observations of 28SiO v=0 J=1-0 line emission (7-mm wavelength) from AGB stars show in some cases peculiar profiles, composed of a central intense component plus a wider plateau. Very similar profiles have been observed in CO lines from some AGB stars and most post-AGB nebulae and, in these cases, they are clearly associated with the presence of ...

The carbon footprint of hospital diagnostic imaging in Australia

open access: yesThe Lancet Regional Health. Western Pacific, 2022
Summary: Background: Pathology testing and diagnostic imaging together contribute 9% of healthcare's carbon footprint. Whilst the carbon footprint of pathology testing has been undertaken, to date, the carbon footprint of the four most common imaging ...

Introducing a VIIRS-based Fire Emission Inventory version 0 (VFEIv0)

open access: yesGeoscientific Model Development, 2022
Abstract. A new open biomass burning inventory is presented that relies on the fire radiative power data from the Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) onboard the Suomi NPP satellite. This VIIRS-based Fire Emission Inventory (VFEI) provides emission data from early 2012 to 2019 for more than 40 species of gases and aerosols at spatial ...

Urease inhibitor and biochar independently affected N2O emissions from Camellia oleifera soils

open access: yesPlant, Soil and Environment, 2022
Nitrous oxide (N2O) is a long-lived greenhouse gas that impacts climate change. Agricultural soils with intensive nitrogen (N) application are the main source of N2O emissions.

Strong CH+J= 1–0 emission and absorption in DR21 [PDF]

open access: yesAstronomy and Astrophysics, 2010
We report the first detection of the ground-state rotational transition of the methylidyne cation CH+ towards the massive star-forming region DR 21 with the HIFI instrument onboard the Herschel satellite. The line profile exhibits a broad emission line, in addition to two deep and broad absorption features associated with the DR 21 molecular ridge and ...
