Water vapor, as one of the most important greenhouse gases, is crucial for both climate and atmospheric studies. Considering the high spatial and temporal variations of water vapor, a timely and accurate retrieval of precipitable water vapor (PWV) is ...

Angled Nozzle Aerosol Jet Printing to Streamline Conformal Patterning of Electronics
A modular, angled aerosol jet printhead is demonstrated to streamline patterning on nonplanar surfaces, including 90° step edges and confined internal geometries. A detailed analysis of gravitational settling for a sheathed aerosol flow and deconvolution of oblique deposition and gravitational effects supports the versatility of this approach for ...

Spectral Splitting Using Luminescent Solar Concentrator Lightguides
Attaching selective reflectors to the edges of a luminescent solar concentrator containing two different fluorescent dyes makes it possible to parse the incident white light spectrum into two separate edge emission wavelengths. Separation may be enhanced by aligning the dichroic dyes on the lightguide surface.

On orthogonal polynomials and related discrete integrable systems [PDF]
Orthogonal polynomials arise in many areas of mathematics and have been the subject of interest by many mathematicians. In recent years this interest has often arisen from outside the orthogonal polynomial community after their connection with ...

Historical precipitation data are crucial for assessing the risks associated with natural disasters such as droughts and floods. However, some extreme precipitation scenarios may not have been included in historical records, particularly in China where ...

Impact of domain geometry on the results of empirical orthogonal function analysis
Locality (or regionality) is a fundamental feature of most geophysical modes in the ocean/atmosphere system. Meanwhile, nonlocality (or globality) is an intrinsic characteristic of the empirical orthogonal function (EOF) technique, which is widely used to extract principal modes from complex spatiotemporal variability.

Robots can learn manipulation tasks from human demonstrations. This work proposes a versatile method to identify the physical interactions that occur in a demonstration, such as sequences of different contacts and interactions with mechanical constraints.

Orthogonal Polynomials, Paraorthogonal Polynomials, and Point Perturbation [PDF]
This thesis consists of three parts. Part 1 starts with an introduction to orthogonal polynomials, to be followed by some well-known theorems pertinent to the results we shall discuss.

Analysis of time series by means of empirical orthogonal functions
An attempt is made to apply the method of empirical orthogonal functions to stationary random time series. The basic assumption motivating the use of the method is that a time series in many real situations may be considered as composed of randomly distributed physical processes of a duration, which is limited due to dissipation, dispersion or ...
