RNA Helicase DDX21 Controls CD4+ T Cell Proliferation and Promotes Inflammatory Bowel Disease via Translational Control

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is characterized by dysregulated T cell responses. RNA helicases, including DExD‐box helicase 21 (DDX21), are pivotal in RNA metabolism, but their role in T cell‐mediated pathology during IBD remains unclear. Here, we demonstrate that DDX21 expression in CD4+ T cells correlates with cell cycle and translation ...

Non-carcass components of cattle finished in feedlot with high grain diet

open access: yesBioscience Journal, 2018
The objective of this study was to quantify the non-carcass components of steers and heifers finished in feedlot and fed with high grain diets. Altogether, 45 Charolais and Nellore crossbred cattle of two categories, 21 heifers with an initial age of 32

EFFECT OF GENOTYPE, AGE, BODY WEIGHT AND SEX ON THE BODY COMPOSITION OF GROWING RABBITS.

open access: yes, 2010
Body composition of 503 growing rabbits of both sexes was examined at the age of 6, 8, 10, 12, 14 and 16 weeks. The animals were of four genotypes: purebred Pannon White (PP) and Danish White (DD) and their reciprocal crossings: DP and PD.

Effects of handling, discrete meals and body weight on the individual variation of gastric emptying parameters

open access: yesAquaculture Research, 1998
Individual feeding and gastric emptying was estimated for two salmonid species, brown trout (bt), Salmo trutta (L.), and rainbow trout (rt), Oncorhynchus mykiss (Walbaum), fed extruded feed with glass beads, and exposed to repetitive handling, anaesthetizing and X-raying.

PET Imaging of Cardiac Inflammation in Viral Myocarditis Using a DPP4‐Targeted Probe

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study describes a DPP4‐targeted PET probe for imaging myocardial inflammation by selectively targeting activated immune cells. Derived from the clinically approved small‐molecule inhibitor linagliptin, the probe demonstrates favorable biodistribution with specific cardiac uptake in myocarditis.

Why the Poor Get Fat: Weight Gain and Economic Insecurity [PDF]

open access: yes
Something about being poor makes people fat. Though there are many possible explanations for the income-body weight gradient, we investigate a promising butlittle-studied hypothesis: that economic insecurity acts as an independent cause of weight gain ...

Male pre- and post-pubertal castration effect on live weight, components of empty body weight, estimated nitrogen excretion and efficiency in Piemontese hypertrofic cattle

open access: yes, 2011
To evaluate the effect of sexual neutering and age of castration on empty body weight (EBW) components and estimated nitrogen excretion and efficiency, a trial was carried out on 3 groups of double-muscled Piemontese calves: early castrated (EC, 5th ...

Canagliflozin Alleviates Diabetic Glomerular Endothelial Injury via Melibiose in a Microbiota‐Dependent Manner

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Canagliflozin treatment reshapes the gut microbiota in DKD and elevates levels of melibiose, a metabolite derived from Roseburia intestinalis. Melibiose directly binds to and enhances the enzymatic activity of glyoxalase 1, leading to decreased methylglyoxal accumulation.

Prediction of physical body composition and carcass components from live-weight and body measurements in Ethiopian highland Zebu (Bos indicus) oxen

open access: yes, 2014
Body measurements and slaughter weight of body component (carcass and edible non-carcass) of 63 zebu oxen were used in this trial. Out of these 9 of them were slaughtered at the initial stage of the experiment.
