Advanced semiconductor modeling using the EMTP

Proceedings of 1994 IEEE Workshop on Computers in Power Electronics, 2002
Advanced models of two semiconductor devices, the diode and IGBT, have been developed using a general purpose program, the Electromagnetic Transients Program (EMTP). These models are based on semiconductor physics and reproduce with high accuracy their behaviour during switching phenomena.

Running EMTP on PCs (power systems)

IEEE Computer Applications in Power, 1993
The Electromagnetic Transients Program (EMTP) is a computer program for the simulation of electric power system transient phenomena. The program provides a large set of device models permitting accurate modeling of power system components over a wide frequency range.

Simultaneous Solution of Control System Equations in EMTP

IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, 2006
The existing approach for solving control systems in the Electromagnetics Transients Program is to insert one-time-step delays for breaking feedback loops when one or more nonlinear functions is encountered. Although this approach may remain acceptable for several well-behaved cases, it provides a nonsimultaneous solution for a nonlinear system.

EMTP modeling of hybrid HVDC breakers

2015 IEEE Power & Energy Society General Meeting, 2015
HVDC meshed systems offer several advantages in front of their HVAC counterparts. However, the lack of fast, low-losses and reliable circuit breaker technology has postponed their implementation. A recently proposed hybrid breaker design can alter this situation.

Real-time EMTP-based transients simulation

IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, 1994
A computer program has been written for the simulation of power system transients in real time. The program is based on EMTP models and solution techniques optimized for maximum performance in superscalar computer architectures. Timings ranging from 38 to 107 /spl mu/s have been obtained for systems from 18 to 30 nodes using an IBM RISC System/6000 ...

Lightning arrester modeling using ATP-EMTP

2004 IEEE Region 10 Conference TENCON 2004., 2004
This paper describes operating analysis of metal oxide surge arrester, IEEE and Pinceti model, using ATP-EMTP. Nowadays the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) and the Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) mostly use lightning arrester from Ohio Brass and Precise brand.

Shunt reactor switching simulation by EMTP

Proceedings of the 12th IEEE Mediterranean Electrotechnical Conference (IEEE Cat. No.04CH37521), 2004
The work reported in this paper is EMTP simulation of reactor switching. The simulation has identified the causes of high transient overvoltage, which are produced when switching high voltage shunt reactors.

EMTP accuracy in representing electrical power system resonances

8th International Conference on Harmonics and Quality of Power. Proceedings (Cat. No.98EX227), 2002
EMTP errors in the electrical power system impedance representation may not be negligible in the presence of strong resonances. This aspect is analysed with reference to harmonic distortion analysis and a simple procedure, which reduces the error effects without increasing computation time, is suggested.

Toxic and therapeutic effects of EMTP in obesity

Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics, 1969
EMTP (Fenfluramine), a new anorexigenic drug without properties that stimulate the central nervous system, was used as an ad;unct to an 800 calorie diet in a 120 day, double‐blind, randomized control study of 36 obese veterans. The greatest weight loss occurred in patients who were given the drug in Period 1 of the study and the least occurred in ...
