Antigenic cooperation in Viral Populations: Transformation of Functions of Intra-Host Viral Variants [PDF]
In this paper we study intra-host viral adaptation by antigenic cooperation - a mechanism of immune escape that serves as an alternative to the standard mechanism of escape by continuous genomic diversification and allows to explain a number of experimental observations associated with the establishment of chronic infections by highly mutable viruses ...

Abstract US clinical practice guidelines for the diagnostic evaluation of cognitive impairment due to Alzheimer's disease (AD) or AD and related dementias (ADRD) are decades old and aimed at specialists. This evidence‐based guideline was developed to empower all—including primary care—clinicians to implement a structured approach for evaluating a ...

Viral Meningitis and Encephalitis
Abstract Viral meningitis and encephalitis occur at all stages of life. They may represent disease at its primary site of replication (e.g. rabies) or be part of an infection syndrome (e.g. HIV). A large proportion of cases go unconfirmed by laboratory diagnosis despite use of all available laboratory techniques.

Objective We aimed to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of heparin‐binding protein (HBP) in cerebrospinal fluid for the diagnosis of bacterial meningitis in patients with a suspected central nervous system infection. Methods This prospective multicenter cohort study determined the diagnostic accuracy of HBP in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) for bacterial ...

Viral metagenomic analysis reveals potential biological hazards in non‐human primates in a zoo
The investigation identifies the presence of Encephalomyocarditis virus (EMCV), Baboon endogenous virus (BAV), Human endogenous retrovirus (HERV), and Baboon endogenous virus (BaEV) in non‐human primates (NHPs) at the Zoo, indicating potential zoonotic threats.

Towards Differentiation of Viral Encephalitis
Viral encephalitis is one of the important directions of modern neurology. Practitioners have diagnostic difficulties that require differentiation from neoplastic process, acute cerebral vascular syndromes, toxic encephalopathy, psychosis. In this regard,

The high prevalence and spread of arthropod-borne viruses (arboviruses) make them an important cause of viral encephalitis in humans. Most epidemic viral encephalitides have an etiology associated with arboviruses. Among various arboviruses, the Japanese

New Pyridobenothiazolone Derivatives Display Nanomolar Pan‐Serotype Anti‐Dengue Virus Activity
A ligand‐based strategy is employed, starting from hit compound 2, to develop the C‐2 modified pyridobenzothiazolone 19 as a pan‐serotype nanomolar DENV‐1‐4 inhibitor. Investigations of the mechanism reveal the peculiar ability to abolish the infectivity of virions in a second infection.
