ENCEPHALOMYELITIS RESEMBLING BENIGN MYALGIC ENCEPHALOMYELITIS

The Lancet, 1970
Abstract Four cases of encephalomyelitis resembling benign myalgic encephalomyelitis are reported. A Coxsackie B2 virus was isolated from the cerebrospinal fluid in one case and an echovirus type 3 virus from the faeces and the cerebrospinal fluid in another. Serological tests indicated Coxsackie B2 and Coxsackie B5 infection in the other two cases.

Acute disseminated encephalomyelitis

Zhurnal nevrologii i psikhiatrii im. S.S. Korsakova, 2021
Acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (AEM) is an immune-mediated inflammatory demyelinating disease of the central nervous system (CNS), usually single-phase. In WREM, multiple lesions of the central nervous system of an inflammatory-demyelinating nature accompanied by extremely polymorphic neurological disorders develop acutely or subacutely.

Postinfectious encephalomyelitis

Current Neurology and Neuroscience Reports, 2003
Postinfectious forms of encephalomyelitis, also termed acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM), form one of several categories of inflammatory demyelinating disorders of the central nervous system (CNS). Recent large, retrospective case series have refined our understanding of the clinical, laboratory, and neuroimaging characteristics of ADEM.
