Implicit Density Estimation by Local Moment Matching to Sample from Auto-Encoders [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Recent work suggests that some auto-encoder variants do a good job of capturing the local manifold structure of the unknown data generating density.

Hierarchical Photo-Scene Encoder for Album Storytelling

open access: yes, 2019
In this paper, we propose a novel model with a hierarchical photo-scene encoder and a reconstructor for the task of album storytelling. The photo-scene encoder contains two sub-encoders, namely the photo and scene encoders, which are stacked together and

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Design of a Low-Power and Low-Area 8-Bit Flash ADC Using a Double-Tail Comparator on 180 nm CMOS Process

open access: yesSensors, 2022
This paper presents a low-area 8-bit flash ADC that consumes low power. The flash ADC includes four main blocks—an analog multiplexer (MUX), a comparator, an encoder, and an SPI (Serial Peripheral Interface) block.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Side information source coding: low complexity design and source independence [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Correlated sources X and Y are drawn i.i.d. according to probability mass function (pmf) p(x,y). In the side information source code (SISC) configuration: p(x,y) is known a priori to both the encoder and the decoder; the encoder knows X but not Y; the ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Improved DETR With Class Tokens in an Encoder

open access: yesIEEE Access
DETR first used a transformer in object detection. It does not use anchor boxes and non-maximum suppression by converting object detection into a set prediction problem.

Artificial Neural Network-based error compensation procedure for low-cost encoders

open access: yes, 2009
An Artificial Neural Network-based error compensation method is proposed for improving the accuracy of resolver-based 16-bit encoders by compensating for their respective systematic error profiles.
