Embedded Processing for Extended Depth of Field Imaging Systems: From Infinite Impulse Response Wiener Filter to Learned Deconvolution

open access: yesSensors, 2023
Many works in the state of the art are interested in the increase of the camera depth of field (DoF) via the joint optimization of an optical component (typically a phase mask) and a digital processing step with an infinite deconvolution support or a ...

Forecasting the Dialysis Burden in Japan: Validation‐Based Projections of Prevalence and Incidence Through 2050

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Japan has one of the highest dialysis prevalence rates worldwide and a shrinking, aging population. Whether dialysis burden has entered a sustained post‐peak phase or whether recent declines partly reflect pandemic‐related disruptions remains uncertain.

Outcome Analysis of End-to-End and End-to-Side Anastomoses in 131 Patients Undergoing Microsurgical Free Flap Reconstruction of the Lower Extremity

open access: yesJournal of Reconstructive Microsurgery Open, 2017
Background End-to-end and end-to-side anastomoses remain the most common techniques in microsurgical free flap reconstruction. Still, there is an ongoing effort to optimize established techniques and develop novel techniques. Numerous comparative studies

End-to-End Weak Supervision

open access: yesCoRR, 2021
Aggregating multiple sources of weak supervision (WS) can ease the data-labeling bottleneck prevalent in many machine learning applications, by replacing the tedious manual collection of ground truth labels. Current state of the art approaches that do not use any labeled training data, however, require two separate modeling steps: Learning a ...

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.
